• Data will strengthen electrical safety standards and codes

Overview of Activities

• Established IEEE/NFPA Steering Committee – 9 members, including volunteer leaders

and staff from each organization

• Established supporting committees– Research and Testing Planning Committee– Resource Development Ad Hoc Committee

Research and Testing Planning Committee (RTPC)

• TG1 – Research and Test Plan• TG2 – Arc Fault Test Protocols• TG3 – Thermal Effects/Arcing Fault Hazard Analysis• TG4 – Heat Transfer and Injury Statistics• TG5 – Hazards Other than Thermal and

Electromagnetic• TG6 – Electromagnetic Hazards• TG7 – Impact of Enclosures

–Vice Chair: Daleep Mohla, Industry Consultant

• Provides requested data to IEEE and NFPA standards and code processes

• Anticipates completion of research and test plan 3-4Q 2005

Objective of Resource Development Ad Hoc Team

• Define and carry out industry fundraising effort to support research and testing

• Develop a detailed prospectus• Seeking monetary and in-kind

contributions–equipment, lab time, testing

• Issue solicitation mid-2005
