I . INTRODUCTION

The project aims at reminding the things which people usually tend to forget. As per the survey and looking at the current trends, the devices available detect the lost things only when the user presses the button. In the proposed RFID system, items are static in a certain sense, for instance, an item placed in a pocket within very close proximity to the reader. The possibility of not reading an item is low in most cases.

The proposed work proves to eliminate these drawbacks listed and is efficient, reliable and sustainable for long term usage. As stated above, acts as a reminder to find the things and locate them before they are forgotten. This device gives a beep, whenever an object [such as a gold necklace, or an expensive mobile, key, wallet, laptop, tablet etc. ] is left by the user within few seconds of time.

ReFinder has been designed using Bluetooth modules in order to miniaturize the device and reduce the power consumption. The user can set the work mode (master or slave) of the device by AT commands.

This work explored an alternative means of gathering information about the items using Bluetooth. By representing the Bluetooth enabled devices, based upon the Bluetooth ID, the system could keep track the presence of Blue tooth devices the user is tending to forget. The Bluetooth chips could be independently used for the non-Bluetooth devices by attaching it to them. By giving a user more information about the Bluetooth and non-Bluetooth devices, the system could potentially be more executive at aiding a person' s memory.

II. BLOCK DIAGRAM

The figure 1 shows the block diagram of the implementation. It consists of a HC-05 embedded Bluetooth serial communication module and three Bluetooth devices. The Bluetooth devices can be a mobile phone, laptop, tablet or pda

Once the pairing is done then, the HC-05 keep monitoring the connection of other devices paired with it. If any of the Bluetooth device goes out of range then the HC-05 module gives an alarm to the user. This indicates that the person has left or forgot the thing(s) belonging to him. III. METHODOLOGY

The initial working mode of HC-05 Bluetooth module is as a slave device. By using the appropriate AT commands we can configure HC-05 Bluetooth module as a master device.

On powering up, new connection is made at the HyperTerminal and COM port is selected. The baud rate is set to 3 8400, data bits as 8, parity as none, stop bit as 1 , flow control as none. A. How to get to the AT mode:

• AT mode 1 : After power on, HC -05 can enter the AT mode by triggering PIN34 with high level . Then, the baud rate for setting AT command is equal tto the baud rate in communication. For example: 9600

• AT mode 2: First set the PIN34 as high level or while powering the module, set the PIN34 to be at high level. The baud rate used here is 3 8400bps.

B. How to get to the communication mode: • Input low level to PIN34 . • Then the module will enter to communication mode. It

can be used for pairing.

C. The tasks to be peiformed : • Checking the device mode: to check if the device is in

master or slave mode. • Configure the device as slave or master as per the

requirements. Find the address of the slave device. • Pair the slave device addresses with the master device and

link them.

Refinder, the device which is used to help people to find the things before they tend to forget them. It consists of a Master device and a Slave device. The Master device is with the user all the time. The Slave device will be attached to the things which user tends to forget like key chain, wallet, pen drive etc. When the Slave device is within the range of the user, the Master device continuously inquires the Slave device. When the user forgets the things to which Slave device is attached, communication link gets disconnected and hence the buzzer gives an alarming sound. This helps the user as a reminder to take the things he tends to forget.

Fig. 6 HC-OS Module

Fig. 7 HC-OS PCB Implementation

The master device is the HC-05 module. It is configured as master through AT commands. Once configured and paired with multiple slave device address, the master chip can be used independently. It automatically detects the presence of the slave devices with which it is paired, if the slave devices lie within its range of communication. Once it goes out of range, the pin 09 of the chip goes low.

The transistor is used as switch to turn on the buzzer when the slave device is out of range of the master. The transistor used is BC558 . It is an PNP transistor.

The buzzer used here works at 3 .3V. Once the slave device goes out of range of communication from the master device, the indication is given through the buzzer. This acts as a reminder for the user regarding the object to which the slave device is attached. Hence, the end user can easily remember the thing which he tends to forget.

VI. CONCLUSION

This work explored an alternative means of gathering information about the things which we tend to forget using Bluetooth. By representing based upon their mobile phone/laptop/HC-05 slave chip Bluetooth device address, the system could find the objects which the user tends to forget. The motivation for this was to miniaturize the system, make it cost effective and compact, flexible to the end user. By using Bluetooth technology, the system is potentially more effectively aiding a person' s memory.
