Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan

• an Indian philosopher and statesman

• the first  Vice President of India (1952–1962)

• the second President of India from 1962 to 1967.

• the highest civilian award the Bharat Ratna in India.

• believed that “Teachers should be the best minds

in the Country".

•Since 1962, his birthday is celebrated in India as

Teachers' Day on 5th September.

Mahadevi Varma

• best known as an outstanding Hindi poet was a freedom fighter

• woman's activist and educationist

• widely regarded as the "modern Meera".

• a major poet of the Chhayavaad generation, a period of romanticism in Modern Hindi .

• was the recipient of the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian award, in 1988.

Ruskin Bond

• an Indian author of British descent.• The Indian Council for Child Education recognised his

pioneering role in the growth of children's literature in India, and awarded him the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1992 .

• founder of the Apollo Hospital Group, India's first corporate hospital group.

• Today, India has over 750 corporate hospitals all over the country.  is an Indian entrepreneur and cardiologist,

Sonal Mansingh

• an eminent Indian classical dancer and a leading exponent of Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, and Chhau.

• a well-known choreographer, teacher, orator and a social activist.

• the youngest recipient of Padma Bhushan, in 1992. • In 2003, Sonal became the first Indian woman dancer to be

awarded with Padma Vibhushan.

Ustad Zakir Hussain

• Popularly known as Tabla Maestro, is the son of the renowned tabla player Ustad Allah Rakha.

• was awarded the Padma Shri in 1988, and the Padma Bhushan in 2002, by the Government of India.

• was also awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1990.

Nek Chand Saini

• a self-taught Indian artist, known for building the Rock Garden of Chandigarh, an eighteen acre sculpture garden in the city of Chandigarh,

• When the first planned city was being redesigned as a modern utopia by the Swiss/French architect Le Corbusier. Nek Chand found work there as a roads inspector for the Public Works Department in 1951.

• He was awarded the Padma Shri by Government of India in 1984.

• One BAFTA Award
