Chapter 1. Planning to deploy Maximo for Service Providers

IBM® Maximo® for Service Providers 7.6.0 must be installed with IBM MaximoAsset Management 7.6.0. Your environment can also include IBM Maximo AssetManagement Multitenancy 7.6.0.

System requirements for Maximo for Service ProvidersBefore you install Maximo for Service Providers, your environment must meet allof the hardware and software requirements.

Administrative user rights are required for the installation of Maximo for ServiceProviders.

The installation program requires access to the middleware servers that areinstalled with Maximo Asset Management to complete the installation. You needthe administrative user IDs and passwords for the application server, databaseserver, and directory server.

Enterprise system

You install Maximo for Service Providers 7.6.0 on the administrativeworkstation where Maximo Asset Management 7.6.0 is installed.

Maximo Asset Management Multitenancy

Maximo for Service Providers 7.6.0 can be installed with Maximo AssetManagement Multitenancy 7.6.0.

If Maximo for Service Providers is installed in a Maximo AssetManagement Multitenancy environment, Maximo for Service Providers isenabled for all tenants except the system provider tenant.

Installation overviewThe installation of IBM Maximo for Service Providers 7.6.0 involves installing theproduct and configuring the software.

Before you begin

Ensure that IBM Maximo Asset Management 7.6 is installed on the computerwhere you are installing Maximo for Service Providers 7.6.0.

Procedure1. Back up the middleware servers and the administrative workstation.2. Prepare the application server:

Application server Task

WebSphere® Application Server Ensure that the application server isstarted. The installation program connectsto the application server by using the logininformation that you specify.

WebLogic Server Ensure that the application server(MAXIMOSERVER) is stopped. If theapplication server is running, stop theserver and wait a few minutes before youstart the installation program. If theapplication server is not stopped, theinstallation process stops.

3. Install Maximo for Service Providers.4. Update the database and build and deploy the Maximo EAR files by using the

configuration program.5. If you use Oracle WebLogic Server, or if you deferred the configuration step,

manually update the Maximo database and build and deploy the Maximoenterprise archive (EAR) files.

Configuration overviewYou can use the Maximo Asset Management configuration program to configure anew deployment.

The configuration program is launched automatically when the installationprogram is complete.

When you complete the configuration program, the Maximo for Service Providersapplication starts automatically.

If you do not use the configuration program to automatically configure theproduct, you must manually update the database and build and deploy theenterprise archive (EAR) files.

In most cases, you can run the configuration program locally or remotely toconfigure a component. You are required to run the configuration program locallyon the IBM WebSphere Application Server when you are preparing it for Maximofor Service Providers deployment.

Restriction: If your environment includes Oracle WebLogic Server, you mustmanually update the database and build and deploy the EAR files. Theconfiguration program does not build and deploy the EAR files on WebLogicServer.

When the installation and configuration steps are complete, you can customizeMaximo for Service Providers to suit your needs.

You must install Maximo for Service Providers in the same directory whereMaximo Asset Management is installed.

Procedure1. Download the Maximo for Service Providers product software from IBM

Passport Advantage® and extract the installation image to a local directory.2. Start the launchpad by double-clicking the launchpad file. If your computer is a

64-bit system, use the launchpad64 file.3. On the Install IBM Maximo for Service Providers pane, click Install.4. After you accept the terms in the license agreement, select the option to use the

existing package group IBM Tivoli's automation suite.5. Complete the installation program.6. In the configuration program, select Update Database and Build and Deploy

Application EAR Files.7. Complete the configuration program.8. When the installation is complete, verify that the Maximo for Service Providers

component was installed. Log in to Maximo for Service Providers and view thesystem information from the Help menu.

Automatically building and deploying the EAR filesIf you deferred the configuration step during installation, you can use theconfiguration program to update the Maximo database and build and deploy theEAR files.

Before you begin

Ensure that the installation of Maximo for Service Providers is complete.

Procedure1. Start the configuration program by double-clicking the ConfigUI file in the

install_home/ConfigTool directory.2. On the home screen, select Update Database and Build and Deploy

Application EAR Files.3. Complete the configuration program.

Manually building and deploying the EAR filesIf you do not use the configuration program, you must manually update theMaximo database and build and deploy the EAR files. If your deployment usesOracle WebLogic Server, you must also complete the manual steps.

Building the EAR filesTo deploy the product, you must update the Maximo database and build anddeploy the Maximo EAR and Maximo help system EAR files.

Deploying the EAR files on WebSphere Application ServerIf you did not use the configuration program, you must manually deploy theMaximo EAR files on WebSphere Application Server. Deploying the EAR filesstarts the application server.

Before you beginv Update the Maximo database and build the EAR files.v Ensure that the application server is started.

About this task

The EAR files are installed on WebSphere Application Server during the MaximoAsset Management installation.

Replace the parameters in the command syntax with the values in yourdeployment. For more information, see “Command syntax for deploying EAR fileson WebSphere Application Server.”

Procedure1. Deploy the Maximo EAR file by opening a command prompt and running the

following command:websphere_home\jacl\solutions\DeployApplication.[bat|sh] WASAdminUserNameWASAdminPassword "MAXIMO" WASNodeName WASApplicationServerName"install_home\maximo\deployment\default\maximo.ear" WASVirtualHostWASWebServerName

2. WASNodeNameThe name of the WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment node.

WASApplicationServerNameThe name of the WebSphere Application Server Network Deploymentapplication server.

WASVirtualHostThe name of the WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment virtualhost.

WASWebServerNameThe name of the WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment webserver.

Deploying the EAR files on WebLogic ServerAfter you build the EAR files, you must deploy them from the WebLogic Serverconsole. Deploying the EAR files starts the application server.

Before you beginv Update the Maximo database and build the EAR files.v On Windows: If the MAXIMOSERVER server is not running, start it from a

command prompt.v On UNIX: Ensure that the WebLogic Server daemon is running.

To view the WebLogic Server console, a Java™ virtual machine must be installed.

About this task

The Maximo EAR files are installed on WebLogic Server during the Maximo AssetManagement installation.

Procedure1. Change to the mydomain directory:

Operating system Location

Windows From a command prompt, change to thefollowing directory: weblogic_home\user_projects\domain\mydomain

UNIX From a command prompt, change to thefollowing directory: weblogic_home/mxadmin/oracle/user_projects/domains/mydomain

2. Start WebLogic Server by running the following command:

Windows startWebLogic.cmd

UNIX ./startWebLogic.sh

3. Specify the WebLogic Server user name and password.

4. Log in to the WebLogic Server console at http://hostname:7001/console.5. In the WebLogic Server console, follow the instructions to deploy the

maximo.ear file and the maximoiehs.ear file.

Ensuring that the PLUSPQUOTECRONTASK cron task is completeIf you are upgrading to Maximo for Service Providers version 7.6.0 from version7.1 or a later version, you must not start any billing processes until thePLUSPQUOTECRONTASK cron task is complete.

About this task

This cron task is run automatically when the Maximo database is extended.

Procedure1. Log in to Maximo for Service Providers.2. From the Go To Applications menu, select System Configuration > Platform

Configuration > Cron Task Setup.3. In the Cron Task Setup application, select PLUSPQUOTECRONTASK.4. In the Cron Task Instance table window, browse for PLUSPQUOTE. If the

PLUSPQUOTE instance is listed, then the cron task has not finished running. Youmust wait until the cron task is finished before you start any billing processes.If the PLUSPQUOTE instance is not listed, then the cron task has run successfullyand you can start your billing processes.
