India Hydro Energy Hydropower is a renewable energy resource because it uses

the Earth's water cycle to generate electricity. Waterevaporates from the Earth's surface, forms clouds, precipitatesback to earth, and flows toward the ocean. The movement ofwater as it flows downstream creates kinetic energy that canbe converted into electricity. 2700 TWH is generated everyyear. Hydropower supplies at least 50% of electricityproduction in 66 countries and at least 90% in 24 countries.[ii]Hydropower is by far the single largest renewable energy

source in India, accounting for over 10% of total electricitygeneration. . While most of this energy is from large hydro-electric plants, small hydro plants (up to 25 MW capacities)

have also started making a dent in India.
