• A simple introductory page with basic guidelines.

• This page cannot be edited by any users.

• There is no need to log in to view any post, or add replies or comments to posts.

• If you wish to login and have a username and password, select the Log In button.

• If you wish to obtain a username and password, select the “Contact Us” page and request a login using the displayed form.

• The “Categories With Posts”, “Recent Posts”. and “Archives” dot points (left hand side) can be selected to display relevant posts.

• Each page of the site can be selected by clicking on an entry in the “Site pages” menu line.

• Shows excerpts (unformatted) of all entries (posts) on the site in reverse chronological order.

• Posts can be edited by the creators of the post only. (edit button will shown if creator logged on)

• There is no need to log in to view any post, or add replies or comments to posts.

• Clicking or selecting the post header will display that post in full on another display.

• By clicking on the “Leave a reply” text or the “Comment button” , anyone can reply or comment to any post.

• Any reply or comment will only appear on the site after moderation by the administrator.

• The “Categories With Posts”, “Recent Posts”. and “Archives” dot points (left hand side) can be selected to display relevant posts.

• Allows any viewer to send an email message to the administrator for any purpose.

• After filling in the form, click the “submit” button.

• One use for this facility may be for a member to request a log in username (members name) and password (member number).

• The “Categories With Posts”, “Recent Posts”. and “Archives” dot points (left hand side) can be selected to display relevant posts.

• Provides a brief summary of instructions for a viewer or member.

• No modifications are possible.

• The instructions may be printed using the viewers browser print facility.

• This has been added to provide a mechanism for any user to request an entry (post) to be added on their behalf without logging on.

• Simply fill in the form (viewers name and email address required), add an attachment from the viewers PC by selecting “Choose File” and select “Submit”.

• The attachment may be any image, plain text, pdf, or word format file that the viewer can compose on their PC.

• A use for this may be “for Sale” or “wanted” adverts.

• The post will be added to the “Forum Entries” page after moderation.

• The “Categories With Posts”, “Recent Posts”. and “Archives” dot points (left hand side) can be selected to display relevant posts.

• After using the “Ask A Question” form to submit a request:

• This page will display with the short confirmation message.

• The post will be added to the “Forum Entries” page after moderation.

• The “Categories With Posts”, “Recent Posts”. and “Archives” dot points (left hand side) can be selected to display relevant posts.

• This page has been added to provide a mechanism to show “static” information such as large document copies, or in this example, a copy of a complete book (in Kindle format) together with the “Kindle” program download link.

• Each entry will simply have an “Entry Heading” and following text, images, or links.

• Selecting the links will cause your browser to download the linked files to your PC.

• Entries can only be added by the administrator, but members can request an entry be added by using the “Ask A Question” page form with an appropriate message and attachment.

• The “Categories With Posts”, “Recent Posts”. and “Archives” dot points (left hand side) can be selected to display relevant posts.

• After Log In, this display will be presented.

• The left hand side menus allow you to add or edit posts, media, or comments that will be owned by you.

• Normally only the Posts button will be of interest.

• Use the “Contact Us”page if more info is required.

• To add a new post, select the “posts” menu item.

• To return to the Site, select the “Hunter Valley Beekeepers” menu item and then select “Visit Site”.

• Selecting “Posts” will display all yours current posts.

• You can edit any post by placing your cursor over a post name (eg “June Meeting”) and selecting “Edit”

• Note that a submenu has been created under “Posts” - “All Posts” (this display) and “Add New” which can be selected to add a new post.

• Use the “Contact Us”page if more info is required.

• To add a new post, select the “Add New” menu item.

• To return to the Site, select the “Hunter Valley Beekeepers” menu item and then select “Visit Site”.

• This is a simple (but possible unfamiliar) editor to allow you to create a new post. The editor will allow many editing functions but for most applications, you can forget most of them.

• Add your required header in the “Post Header Box”

• Click in the Post text area and type your text - use the editing functions as you wish (experiment as nothing is submitted until you “Publish”)

• Select an appropriate category for your post from the list on the right. The default is “general”.

• You can also add an image by selecting the “Upload/Insert” icon (top left of text area) - see next slides for more info re images. The image will be inserted where your cursor is in the text area.

• To return to the Site, select the “Hunter Valley Beekeepers” menu item and then select “Visit Site”.

• See following slides for more steps.

• This shows how you might have filled in the “Add New” Post display

• Click in the Post text area and type your text - use the editing functions as you wish (experiment as nothing is submitted until you “Publish”)

• Select an appropriate category for your post from the list on the right. “Honey” has been selected here.

• You can also add an image by selecting the “Upload/Insert” icon (top left of text area) - see next slide for more info re images. The image will be inserted where your cursor is in the text area.

• To return to the Site, select the “Hunter Valley Beekeepers” menu item and then select “Visit Site”.

• After you have completed your Post, select the ‘Publish” button (right had side). Otherwise your post will not be entered. If you do not wish to carry on, select “move to trash”

• If you wished to add an image and selected the “Upload/Insert” icon on the add new post display, this display will allow you to add a media file from your PC. The media file could be an JPG image, pdf, or a word file. Note that an inserted JPG image will display as an actual image in the post. Pdf’s and other documents will display as a “link” that will open in a new browser window.

• Simply drag and drop your image into the “Add Media Window” or use the “select file” option to find and choose your image on your PC.

• You can cancel this operation using the cancel button and return to the post edit display.

• After you have dropped the image in the area, the next display (next slide) will occur....

• After you have added your media file, this display shows you the image you selected and allows you to alter a few things.

• Normally only alter the items in red. Add a “caption”, select how the image may be displayed, and select an image size.

• After you select the “Insert into post”, you will return to the “add post” display. If you are not satisfied you can again edit the image which will again display this information.

• If you decide not to keep the image, select the “Delete” button.

• The “Save all Changes” button is only used after re-editing an added image.

• After you have selected the “Insert into Post” button on the “add media” display, this post display will again be shown with the added image.

• It is possible to wrap the text around an image by careful manipulation of cursor position in the text when selecting “Upload/Insert”, and image size and “alignment” on the “Add media” display (previous) - experiment if you like.

• If you click on the image, two icons appear on the image - one is an edit icon that will return you to the “add media” display, and the other is a “delete” icon to remove the image if you wish.

• After you are satisfied with the post, make sure you select the “Publish” button - otherwise your work is lost.

• If you decide it was all too much and you dont wish to keep the post, select “Move to Trash”

• Select “Hunter Valley amateur beekeepers” - “Visit Site” to return to the site.

• After you select the “Publish” button, this display appears.

• The post can still be edited again - if any changes are made, select “Update” to commit them.

• If you click on the image, two icons appear on the image - one is an edit icon that will return you to the “add media” display, and the other is a “delete” icon to remove the image if you wish.

• You can click on “View Post” to have a look at the post as it will appear. To return to this display, select “edit” on the post page that is displayed. (next slide)

• After you select the “View Post” button, this page shows the post as it will appear in the site.

• The post can still be edited again - if any changes are required, select “edit” to return to the add new post edit display to make them.

• If you are satisfied with the post, you can select the “Forum Entries” menu item to display all posts again. This is necessary as there is no left hand menu items on a single post display.

• Any viewer can send a message and attached image to the administrator to maybe post a question for all members and viewers to see and comment on..

• Or if you do not wish to use the post editor in previous slides, this facility allows anyone to request that the administrator adds a post for you.

• Of course you have to supply all information.

• Simply fill in all the boxes with your info and message, and add an attachment from your PC (including a word file) and select “Submit”.

• The request will be sent to the administrator and added to the site as a post in an appropriate category after moderation.

• After you “submit” a question or request, this page simply confirms your request.

• If your post does not appear after a reasonable time, contact the administrator using the “Contact Us” page - there may have been a problem.

• Selecting the “Forum Entries” page menu item will display excerpts of all posts in reverse chronological order.

• Selection a category menu item will display all posts in that category.

• The 10 most recent posts are displayed as menu items.

• If you are still logged on, selecting “site admin” will return you to the “dashboard” display.

• To view the full post entry, simply click on the post header you wish to view.

• The “edit” buttons will only display if you are logged on for your posts only.

• Selecting an “Archive” month, all posts for the month are listed.

• By selecting “Log out”, you can log out.

• This is how a selected post will display.

• Note that the left hand menu items are missing. to return to the post list, select the “Forum Entries” menu item.

• If you click on an image, you will open the image in a new browser window. To return to the site display, you need to use the “back arrow” or “tab”mechanism of your particular browser.

• Any viewer can reply or comment to a post. The comment will only be displayed after moderation.

• There will be a “previous” and “next” buttons displayed so that you can step back and forward through all posts.
