This guide will show you how to disassemble the HTC Windows Phone 8X, assisting in making the repair of the device both simple and inexpensive. Following the steps we have provided should help you quickly, and safely, replace not only a broken display, but also other internal components that may have become damaged.

• Begin the disassemble by removing the SIMcard tray from the phone. Using the SIM cardrelease tool or a paperclip, eject the tray fromthe phone.

• To enter into the HTC Windows Phone 8X body, heat the outside perimeter of the display assembly with the heat gun/blow dryer. Use the plastic opening tool to pry the display away from the phone’s body.

• Do not remove the display assembly completelybecause there are two ribbon cables attached tothe motherboard.

• The next step requires you to pry on the outsidecase of the phone. Maneuver the assembly to aspot where you will be able to proceed.

• Look closely inside the perimeter of the phone, you will notice the plastic tabs that secure the internals to the phone's body.

• You should now be able to see the internals on thecase backing. With patience, very carefullyseparate the internals from the case backing. Now,you will begin removing the individual parts.

• The majority of the ribbon cables’ securingconnections are FPC sockets that have a lockingtab.

• Use the plastic opening tool to pry these tabsback. Allow the phones internals to pass the casebacking until they can be removed from the HTCWindows Phone 8X.

• Flip the tab up 90 degrees and then release the first of two cables. Keep the display assembly attached while slipping the cable out of its socket.

• The second ribbon cable is identical to the first. Flipthe lock, release the cable, and slip it out of itssocket.

• Maneuver the two ribbon cables out of the smallslots that allow them to pass onto the motherboard.

• Move your attention to the motherboard next. Startwith the removal of the dock port connector andantenna plug using the spudger.

• Continue with the spudger to pry the dock portassembly off of the adhesive securing it to themotherboard.

• Locate and remove the seven Phillips screws (#00)that hold the protective shield on the phone. Theshield protects all the goodies inside. Remove theshield from the HTC phone.

• Locate the next FPC locking socket that you can flipup. Unlock and release the ribbon cable to removethe power button from the top of the HTC WindowsPhone 8X.

• You can now remove the dock port assembly fromthe HTC Windows Phone 8X.

• Use the spudger to pry the volume & camerabuttons’ connections. Remove the buttons on theside of the HTC phone.

• The headphone jack is next to remove. It also hasthe FPC locking socket you can lift up from themotherboard. Unlock and release the cable.

• The headphone jack is secured with a metal clip. Use the spudger to pry this clip up to release the headphone jack. You can now remove the headphone jack from the HTC Windows Phone 8X.

• Unplug the upper antenna connector with thespudger by prying up on the plug to release it fromthe motherboard.

• Locate and remove the two Phillips screws (#00)that secure the battery connection to themotherboard. Once they are removed, pry up onthe connection to disconnect it from the phone.

• Locate and remove the three Phillips screws(#00) that secure the motherboard onto theframe assembly.

• The vibrator motor is a single plug connector. Itneeds to be disconnected so you can remove thevibrator from the HTC Windows Phone 8X.

• With the screws removed and the connections alldisconnected, remove the motherboard from theHTC Windows Phone 8X frame assembly.

• The battery is secured with a small amount ofadhesive. Use the spudger to pry up the batteryfrom the frame assembly.

• The speaker removal is simple. Use the spudgerto pry up the speaker so it comes out of the case.

• The front-facing camera is attached to the motherboard by its connector. Use the spudger to remove the connection.

• The rear-facing camera is also attached by itsconnector. Gently pry on the connection with thespudger to remove it.
