Good News For Researchers

• “the proportion of researchers employed in the business sector is insufficient to sustain Europe’s position as a global economic leader”

• Demand in Europe for highly qualified people is predicted to rise by almost 16 million in the period up to 2020

• It has been estimated that the EU will need at least one million new research jobs if it is to reach the R&D expenditure target of 3% of GDP

• The gender gap is closing more markedly among scientists than in the labour market in general.
