How to ensure that your LCD displays last long? LCD is an acronym for liquid crystal display that has taken over the technology of high definition display and video, replacing the ages old CRT tube. Experts have revolutionized this technology because of its clear, crisp and perfect display quality. It is often said electronic display LCD televisions carry a longer lifespan than plasma TVs. Although it is true, but just like any other electronic product they are also prone to wear and tear after a certain period-of-time. Several factors contribute towards the lifespan of this new technology. For example, depending on the degree of usage and the kind of care taken, are some of the factors that would define the durability of LCD displays. On an average, life of a liquid crystal display is around sixty thousand hours. Some of the manufacturers claim their product to last as much as eight thousand hours, provided it runs under ideal conditions such as optimum room temperature, ideal weather terms, care terms, etc. For example, a bus display is more open to rougher environment conditions as compared to a display in a mall or inside home. Therefore, they may have less life span than others. However, as the time passes, these displays are prone to get vague due to constant use. This is because of constantly emitting strong lights that darkens the display after a certain time period or constant use. That is the reason why one of the major considerations to be taken into account while purchasing an LCD TV or display is to check the real life expectancy of source of the display. This is the major factor to be considered because; it is the light source that controls the lucidity, clarity, picture effects and its quality. Also, contrast levels of the display should be maintained. Higher the contrast kept for longer period of time, lower will be the life of the display. Apart from that, if the lights surrounding the LCD are less intense, its life will be even more. A warranty-card must be received securing the light source. Maintenance of the light generator is a must, to ensure pure and proper white color balance in the TV. The quality of back bulb should also be high, for long life of the display. Going for trademarked manufacturer and companies is advised while buying such electronic goods. It is better to go for little costlier LCDs that are warrantied, than to go for cheap ones that have no replacement option.
