1. How you think the sound in your chosen example has been produced (production techniques) 2. What post-production techniques have been used to create the soundtrack (using subject specific
terminology) 3. How the sound design of your chosen examples might enhance the gaming experience for audiences

The Legend Zelda The Ocarina Of Time is an old game released in 1998. You can tell it was made
around them because of the graphics and the sounds. That dosn’t mean to say that the sounds are
bad because there not. The game uses instuments such as organs for some of it’s soundtracks while
the in game sounds will of been made in a studio. At 0:38 into the video a soundtrack accurs which
seems like an organ playing. Most of the soundtracks in the game have instuments in them just like
the soundtrack at 04:58. The in game sounds will have been made in a studio. Sounds like the
charecters footsteps at 0:23 and the door opening at 03:18. There is hardly any voice acting in the
game because all of the story is in dialouge. The few parts of voice acting are only people luagthing
and doing an action never talking. Examples of voice acting are the laugth at 05:02 and the yell at
0:28. These minor voice recordings may have been done in a studio or just sent into the studio.
There is a sequence in the game where you have to play a ocarina. For those parts they have used a
real ocarina to replicate the sound example at 02:24.
For some of the soundtracks I think they will have had to layer certain sounds and add echo to
certain instruments like the organ. The voice acting and the in game sound affects will have had to
been layed into the game aswell and may have had to been made louder so you can hear them over
the soundtrack or background music. All of this will of just been done in a studio using professional
music programmes like reaper .
The music for these game was amazing for the time. The music suites each part of the game. For
example in the first part of the video when he is in the village 0:01 there is this upbeat happy tune
with people talking in the background and bells ringing. All of that suites the village then when you
enter the temple 0:37 you get this gloomy echoing soundtrack which suites the emptiness of the
temple. All you can also hear in the temple aswell is your footsteps and no noise from outside the
temple just the noices you the charecter makes and the soundtrack. They also use the in game
sound at the right points aswell like when you place the three emblems on the stand in the temple
you start getting this noice that sounds like you have completed something. Also when the charecter
plays the ocarina there is real ocarina sounds so it’s like the player themseleves is playing an ocarina.
In Japan this caused an increase in sales of ocarinas due to that certain part of the game. I think that
the audience and fans of the game will have been really happy with the games soundracks and in
games sounds and the way it creates an atmosphere for the place you are in.
