2. Place the Makita 1420 power tool battery pack on a table covered with newspaper with the largeend down. Place the chisel tip on the battery pack side just below the top of the large bottom portion.As the tip heats the plastic, it will form a line. Move the chisel tip around the pack horizontally to meltan opening around the entire pack.
3. Grasp the top small end of the Makita power tool battery pack and lift it off the bottom portion thatyou cut through. Pull the top portion of the pack off to reveal a bottom and top layer of 12 nickelcadmium batteries.
4. Draw a diagram of each layer of wiring connecting the Makita 1422 drill batteries together beforeremoving the wires. Follow the diagram to replace each drill battery’s wires in the correct order.
5. Glue the case back together with clear silicone glue. This type of glue is waterproof to keep theMakita 1220 drill battery dry and allows the power tool packs to be cut open again through the glue.
