How to configure your University Email on
a mobile device
Where possible it is recommended to use the latest version of the Microsoft Outlook application
available for iOS and Android. On any of these devices, use the App store to find the Outlook app.
Here's a breakdown by mobile OS (Operating system)

The following instructions will walk you through the setup of your email on the mobile operating
systems listed above.

Using the Outlook App
Open Outlook for Android.
To configure click ‘Get Started’
Choose the account associated with your Swansea university account- ending @swansea.ac.uk
When prompted enter your password and sign in.
Your email will then start to download. This may take up to 10 minutes to populate all the folders.
Using the Android email client (Gmail/Samsung email client)
Click on the mail icon as below.
Open Accounts
Click on Add account
Click on Exchange
Enter your full email address and click NEXT
Enter your password and click NEXT
Click on OK
Click on NEXT

Click on Activate (please note we do NOT have any active policies currently set)

Click on NEXT and your email will automatically start to download. Please note this may take up to
10 minutes to populate all the folders.
Setup email on an iOS device
Using the Outlook App
Open Outlook for iOS.
To configure tap ‘Get Started.’
Enter your full swansea email and click Add Account
Enter your password and sign in.
Your mail will automatically start to download, please be aware that this could take up to 10 minutes
to populate all of the folders.
Using the Apple email client
a. Got to Settings > Accounts & Passwords b. The Accounts and Passwords screen opens. Tap ‘Add Account’ c. Tap on the Exchange option
Enter your full Swansea email address and add a description, click next.
Click on Sign In
Enter your full email address and password, sign in.
Click on Save.
Your mail will then automatically be downloaded, please be aware that this may take up to 10
minutes to populate all of the folders.
Setup email using IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol)
You can connect to the University’s email using IMAP if Exchange is not an option for you.
We provide the service but not do not support any client configurations.
Settings Server name: outlook.office365.com
Incoming settings: SSL/TLS on port 993
Authentication Method: Normal Password
Outgoing Settings: STARTTLS on port 587
Authentication Method: Normal Password
Username must contain @swansea.ac.uk
e.g. [email protected]
We do not support POP as a means of accessing mail.
