Text layout one • This layout of the film poster has conventional elements to it

including that of the title ‘Trixter’ which I have added in a scratched font I have used this because it looks like It is distorted and messy almost like it has been written in blood. I have decided to use a black background because this is another one of the horror film poster conventions for example as seen on the Insidious 2 poster and Orphan. I have also decided to use black because it makes everything stand out for colours like red and white. For the tag line I have used ‘its not the dead you should fear’ this is simple and straight to the point I think on my first draft however the size of the tag line is too big for the page size this is something I would now have to change. I also decided to add a review at the top of the page I have commonly saw these on horror posters too to advertise the fact that people have already watched it and to trust their opinion.

Picture layout two

• Here I have tried out one of my own pictures that I took of a doll which I thought was quite scary the inspiration came from the horror film Dead silence where there is a wooden doll with its finger over its mouth to emphasise silence. Here I edited the picture to have more shadows and the colours to be deeper and more rich. With this picture I am not keen on the overall poster because the picture is on the large side and looks more like a magazine cover. The picture isn’t really creepy and it wasn’t the image that I wanted to portray for that reason I will not be using this image.

Image layout two

• This image I think is better than the first image because the way I have edited is more suited for its purpose. The editing of this photo the red tones have been brought out so it matches the text of Trixter and the coming soon. I think this image works because the whole frame is full and the photo is taken as a close up of the doll so the crack on the dolls face can be seen. The text doesn’t look as powerful on this poster because the picture Is bright and sized bigger I will have to rethink the text at a later stage. I like this image because the doll looks so innocent however is contradicted by the crack in the eyebrow this creates mystery and confusion.

Image layout three • This image is different from the other two because it is taken

from a left hand side view which is pointing up – this style of photograph isn’t conventional and doesn’t really reflect the horror genre well as it doesn’t show the doll in its scariest form. I did edit the image in black and white because I thought it would show the image in a darker form – I did this by adding shadows. The second of the images is a cropped and I thought without the white space it would seem like the doll was trapped. Out of the two images I prefer the non cropped image because it looks more professional as this effect is used on posters such as One missed call where the face has a a black background around the picture as appose to being tightly cropped.

Image four

• This image is taken based on the exorcist film poster although not levitating on the ceiling it is taken with the intention of looking like the person is falling down and struggling to hold on. I like this image because of the way I have edited it I tried to make it look as If the picture was in black and white with a hint of colour this is the case however the colour is saturated down to look more subtle. I have also added a HD effect onto the picture so it was sharp and the smallest details could be seen. With the HD effect I think it gives the picture a textured effect as saw in horror film posters like the last exorcism – this is commonly seen in the horror film images.

Image five

• This image is the same one as before however I have edited it in a way that makes it look like the features have been removed this is a commonly saw effect within the horror genre. This effect is seen in film posters such as Shutter, Host and The devil inside.

Image six

• This is the image from before and the only thing I have changed here was to take the colour out and change it to black and white this is just a experimental decision to see if it worked better than colour. I think out of the two images I like the black and white one better because this is more conventional and by that looks more professional.

Process

• This is a process of making one of the posters this involved getting loads of peoples faces and adding them to a black background these had to be all the same size in order to create the effect. After I had added all the pictures I have decided to change the opacity on them to make it almost translucent. I have also decided to add the title of the poster to the bottom of the page.

Process two

• Here I have added all of the pictures together and have ensured that they are all the same size I have also changed the idea to have all of the page covered. The idea of this is based on the film poster shutter where they have the victims faces behind the main image which is a girl with her features removed.

Process three

• Here I have added a picture of the doll on top of all of the faces and the text from before on the top. I like the outcome of the poster however only some of the faces can be seen the faces on the right hand side isn’t as visible. The text is very effective because it stands out against the main picture especially the red of the title and the coming soon.

Image • This is another layout of the poster and I have added two photos

together this isn’t a conventional horror poster image layout but I think it is quite effective anyhow. The spilt screen idea of the two images highlights the idea that the Trixter doll has a mind of its own and hints it has a innocent and a horrifying side. The difference in the images is really effective because one is very dark and one is colourful and innocent but the fact you can only see the eyes makes us think they're is something that is trying to hide. I think the title placed in the centre of the poster is also very effective and is commonly seen within the horror film genre for posters for example Carrie. For this image and layout I think I would change the tag line to black as white doesn’t show up well.
