Why: The Horizontal Directional Drilling Design Course is a 2 day interactive course that focuses on feasibility, design, engineering, and constructability of HDD Projects. This course provides instruction on topics including geotechnical exploration, site selection, profile design, pipe selection, stress and pullback calculations, and many others.
What: Provide engineers, contractors, project managers, and others involved with HDD projects a foundation based on current industry practices and resources. The course will also identify risk factors common to HDD projects and ways that they can be managed or mitigated.
Target Audience: The target audience includes all engineers, designers, contractors, inspectors, and others who are involved with HDD Projects who want to gain a more detailed understanding of this pipeline construction method.

Instructor: Jim Williams, PE is the Engineering Manager for Mears Group, Inc., a HDD construction firm in Houston, TX. He has 18 years experience in engineering, consulting, and project management of pipeline, utility, and HDD projects. Mr. Williams has a B.S. degree in engineering, a registered engineer in over a dozen states and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the North American Society of Trenchless Technology. He has designed hundreds of projects throughout the United States and Internationally in a wide range of conditions.
