We began horizontal directional drilling (HDD) in 1991 – recognizing itsadvantages and environmental importance – and established our HDDdivision to meet the needs of this rapidly developing and importantmarket. Since that time, we have successfully completed many complexprojects in multiple countries.

Since our formation over forty years ago, Mears Group has grown from a small engineeringfirm into an international company with over 500 employees operating thr ough three divisions.

Capabilities

Mears Group is a world leader and innovator in Horizontal Dir ectional Drilling. We own rigsfrom 40,000 lb. to 1,300,000 lb.

Along with our equipment capabilities, Mears Group has a maintenance program run by aCertified Equipment Manager (CEM). This program has reduced downtime on projects andkeeps all equipment in optimum running condition. We systematically maintain all equipmentat all times through this program.

Our HDD project engineers and superintendents are specially trained and certified in everyaspect of the drilling process and work closely with clients to keep pr ojects running efficientlyand on schedule.

International

Mears Group is considered one of the Largest Horizontal Directional Drilling Contractors.We have completed projects throughout North and South America. Our crews have drilledin all weather conditions from blistering cold winters in Northern Canada to the hot desertof Arizona. We have drilled every kind of soil condition imaginable and have yet t o find anarea of the world where we could not successfully complete a project with strategic planningand implementation.

Safety

At Mears Group, safety isn’t a buzzword, it’s a philosophy that permeates our entire organization.Every employee participates in extensive, on-going safety training pr ograms with regularrefresher courses and recertification. Outstanding individual and team safety excellence isrecognized on a quarterly basis and annual bonuses ar e awarded for outstanding safetyawareness and activities.

We strive to create the safest working environment on every job. Daily on-site briefings bythe site foreman focus on general safety practices as well as specific jobsite situations.

Mears Group has an extensive training program consisting of classroomand hands-on instruction. Our team ishighly experienced in completing yourcrossings. We have a staff of registered professional engineers/designersalong with extensive operator qualification compliance.

Marine HDD

Mears Group is the leader in shore approaches and water-to-water cross-ings. We have installed dozens of these types of cr ossings and lead the industry in HDD shoreapproaches. With proven experience in constructing crossings in marine environments, wehave installed landfall sections of offshore oil and gas trunklines, telecommunication &power cables and outfalls. Furthermore, working from marine vessels, Mears Group haspositioned pipelines under ship channels, existing cables and pipelines in water -to-watercrossings.

Mears Group provides world-class turnkey Integrity Solutions Services in construction,rehabilitation and corrosion control. Our combination of Engineering and Technical Servicesallows us to focus on pipeline integrity for a variety of pr ojects. Our experienced technicalstaff includes Registered Professional Engineers, NACE International Certified CorrosionSpecialists, Cathodic Protection Specialists and Technicians (Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4).

Construction Services

Mears Group’s Construction Services complement our Integrity Solutions Division by provid-ing bellhole excavation and pipeline examination, pipeline repair, pipeline maintenance sup-port, Anodeflex installation, in-line inspection support, pipeline coating and r econditioning.
