God wants people to see our faith and be led to Him.

Ruth 1:16, “Entreat me not to leave you or to turn back from following after you; for wherever you go I will go and where ever you lodge, I will lodge; your people will be my people and your God, my God.”

Ruth loved her mother-in-law, Naomi. Ruth had watched Naomi deal with the sadness of losing her husband and now she watched as Naomi dealt with the loss of her 2 sons. One of these sons was Ruth’s husband. Both of the women were hurting. Perhaps Ruth was trying to learn from Naomi how to handle this hurt. She saw that Naomi continued to trust God for her help. Soon Naomi told Ruth she had heard that God was providing bread to people back in Bethlehem and she packed her things to return to her homeland. Ruth was drawn to her mother-in-law. She had watched Naomi hold onto her faith when her sons and her husband died. She had seen Naomi pray and worship the one true God. Naomi’s life was a powerful witness to Ruth that God was real and He cared for her. Ruth begged Naomi to let her go with her to Bethlehem. This meant Ruth would leave her own homeland and her family. She wanted to know the God that Naomi worshipped.

When they got to Bethlehem Ruth was faithful to her mother-in-law and gained the favor of a wealthy landowner named Boaz. Ruth and Boaz later married and became the descendants of Jesus. We see God’s protection and care over Naomi and Ruth. God guided the minds and the activities of people around Naomi and Ruth to fulfill His plans for their lives. Ruth came to Bethlehem to find and serve God. She came as a poor woman and became rich. She came as a nobody and became the great-grand-mother of King David. Naomi’s faith stood out to Ruth and the world around her. So can our lives be a stand out and win others to God. If people follow you will your life lead them into a relationship with Jesus Christ?

Father God,Thank you for loving me and taking care of me. Bless my church, Pastor Ron and his family. Bless my teachers for teaching me Your Word. I believe your love is flowing through me to other people. Help me to obey my parents so things will go well with me and I will live a long life on the earth. I will tell how great You are and how much I love You. I thank You that by Jesus’ stripes I am healed.

In Jesus’ name, Amen
