At the gate, you leave everyday life behind. That’s why people travel to Beaver Creek, Colorado from all over the world, and many make it a tradition. The drama of rock and sky, the sheer grandeur of this place, is one reason. That it hosts North America’s only World Cup Race is another. It is also a place of intimacy. A private resort hidden from view, with the power to bring people together. “The con-summate kid-friendly resort.” that’s what SKI Magazine has called Beaver Creek, and strolling though the square you can see why. It is a modern, custom-designed resort with the cozy, unhurried feel of a European Alpine village and rated the #1 resort in North America by Conde Nast Traveler. At this elevation the air is clear, and so are the taste buds. Here you’ll follow in the footsteps of gourmets and food critics. Here you can dine in a snow covered meadow, a pristine aspen glade, or a private museum. Beaver Creek regularly wins awards and accolades for its food, wine, service, lodging, safety standards and environ-mental efforts. It’s a resort where the staff are trained to not just provide what guests want, but to anticipate it. Bea-ver creek sets the standard of service and has been awarded for the third consecutive year “Best Guest Service” by the National Ski Areas Association. There’s a commitment to service, from lodging quality to ski school and lift oper-ations. Escalators, heated walkways and even warm chocolate chip cookies after a day on the ski slopes along with other amenities are designed to pamper Beaver Creek’s guests and owners. Welcome to Beaver Creek, welcome to your Shangri-La.

If World Cup racers refer to Beaver Creek as their favorite place to compete, maybe there is something you should know. Every year, athletes and spectators alike migrate to our mountain top resort for the Birds of Prey Men’s World Cup. But that is only a slice of what Beaver Creek has to offer. From the gentle, manicured slopes of Bachelor Gulch, to the open intermediate trails of Larkspur and Rose Bowl, to the steeps bumps of Grouse Mountain, skiers and riders of all abilities will feel at home on our mountain. At Beaver Creek grooming is our passion. We groom twenty hours a day, seven days a week. Fifty-two operators work ten hour shifts at 11,000 feet behind a turbo diesel engine. The result, 776 groomed acres a day or a total of 106,000 acres per season of pure corduroy for your skiing pleasure. After you enjoy the sweetest, softest terrain in North America, don’t forget about those groomers taking their 3 AM lunch break to get the mountain ready for tomorrow. Your mountain is our backyard and experiencing nature is a privilege that we do our best to earn. Beaver Creek is 100% powered by wind, and recycles 1.4 million pounds of material every year. Even our trail maps are made with recycled paper. We hope you enjoy our mountain and look forward to making some turns with you.

Beaver Creek is a feast for the eyes; a delight for the senses. The influence of renowned resorts such as Switzerland’s St. Moritz, Ita-ly’s Cortina, and Spain’s Val d’Aran led to the creation of a unique mountain resort full of excitement and village luxury. Originally designed to accommodate skiers of all abilities, Beaver Creek Mountain continues to welcome and challenge those who visit her slopes. From the gentle groomed runs of Strawberry Park to the rugged glades and bump runs of Grouse Mountain, Beaver Creek is enjoyed by a variety of Nordic Sports enthusiasts.

When George Townsend first settled in the valley in 1881, he knew he’d found some-thing special, an exceptional mountain, lined with aspen groves and beautiful vistas that would become a world renowned destination. In 1972, Vail continued his vision by purchasing the land and began designing a resort that combined western hospitality and European

charm. Obstacles delayed resort completion, but on December 15, 1980, Beaver Creek finally opened to the public. Major events have always found a home at Beaver Creek. The mountain was named as a potential site for the 1976 Winter Olympics. In 1989 and 1999, the resort hosted the World Ski Championships and will host them again in 2015. Beaver Creek is also host to the Visa Birds of Prey ™ World Cup Downhill Ski race which brings together hundreds of athletes from around the world as they compete to be named World Champion. The Visa Birds of Prey ™ World Cup Downhill is the only men’s downhill in the United States. Beaver Creek is also popular as a summertime adventure destination hosting such events as the Ultra 100 mountain bike race and the Jeep King of the Mountain series. In December 2010, Beaver Creek celebrated 30 years of resort excellence, and continues to be a resort industry leader in guest service and terrain maintenance.

Many live near the mountains. Some live in the mountains. Few will ever live "On the Mountain"™

Located in the heart of the Beaver Creek Village, directly beneath the outdoor ice skating rink, our cultural complex hosts a variety of acclaimed artistic performances that one would expect to see at Carnegie Hall in New York or the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., but might not expect to find within walking distance of ski lifts, hiking trails and golf fairways. The intimate and inviting performance space was designed to exacting specifications to create perfect acoustics and unobstructed views from every seat. The founders of Beaver Creek had always imagined a central theatre since it was first projected as a resort community. In February of 1998, that vision was realized. With the opening of the Vilar Performing Arts Center, Beaver Creek became the first mountain resort community in the world to include its own performing arts facility presenting an annual series of diverse cultural events. From the New York Philharmonic or Dallas Symphony Orchestra to a special concert by Sheryl Crow or Ringo Star you are certain be fully entertained. The building of the Vilar Performing Arts Center was financed by donors who are both full and part-time residents of the Vail Valley. This theatre has added yet another unique dimension to what is already one of the world's premier vacation and recreation destinations. A state-of-the-art facility, the Vilar Performing Arts Center contains a 530-seat theatre, two 2,200 square-foot lobbies and the 2,000 square-foot May Gallery Patrons Lounge.

The Vilar Center's programming ranges from jazz, blues, country and classical concerts to

contemporary and ballet dance troupes, comedy, theatre and family productions. The Vilar

Center also hosts a number of community productions, awards shows and fundraisers for

local organizations throughout the year.

Kenton Hopkins was enjoying a thriving real estate career in Minneapolis when a buddy invited him to ski Vail. That was in 1973. He’s still here. To say that Kenton fell in love with the Vail Valley is an understatement. “For me, there’s not a day that goes by without my senses being awakened by the natural beauty of this area,” he enthuses. Not that he spends all his time amid the wonders of nature. Kenton continued his real estate career joining Vail Associates Real Estate in 1986. He remained with the company’s Beaver Creek office when Vail Associates Real Estate merged with Slifer Smith & Frampton in 1994. In 2015 Kenton along with David and Benjamin joined the Sotheby International Realty the leading luxury real estate brand in the world. For over twenty-five years Kenton has worked with hundreds of buyers and sellers completing transactions in nearly every development in Beaver Creek and Bachelor Gulch, two of the markets in which he specializes. Kenton’s dedication and enthusiasm is reflected in some impressive statistics. He is constantly among the Vail Valley’s top producing brokers, having successfully transacted over $750,000,000 in sales since 1986. Kenton cites several reasons for his success. First of all he has an intimate understanding of the resort in which he lives and offices. Also, Kenton has aggressively continued his real estate education earning a Masters in Real Estate (MRE), real estates most advanced degree. The high level of integrity and business ethics that he employs has allowed Kenton to cultivate significant long-term client relationships. He first listens well to a customer’s needs then understands their motivations, ultimately uncovering then demon-strating clearly how the property satisfies his clients needs. One of the most important phases of real estate is the closing and delivery of the property. Kenton has developed systems that allow these steps to go smoothly for both buyers and sellers. Ultimately, however, when choosing Kenton to represent you as a real estate agent, there are two key factors to remember: Kenton speaks and acts with integrity, he is impeccable with his word. He understands the needs of those he serve and works diligently on their behalf. Having sold property in every development within Beaver Creek, Kenton has the experience and knowledge to get your home sold in a timely and professional manner.

Stop by our Sotheby’s International Realty office in the Beaver Creek Lodge to meet Kenton, Dave, and Ben, your full service real estate team in Beaver Creek, Colorado.

Consistently Awarded as the Top Real Estate Brokerage Team in Beaver Creek for over 15 years.

Originally from the Morristown area of New Jersey, David McHugh has been living in the Vail Valley since 1992. He crossed the country to attend the University of Colorado in Boulder, taking classes in architecture and participating on the CU Ski Team. The entrepreneurial spirit caught him early, driving him to start a contractor business specializing in building and remodeling homes. All the while Dave has made sure to include skiing, snowboarding, telemarking, biking, and tennis in his life.

Dave’s passion for everything surrounding the real estate industry combined with a love of the outdoors soon brought him to Telluride, Colorado. There he was a manager at a five star spa. Not long after Dave moved to his current hometown of Eagle-Vail, where he often enjoys a not so easily accessible out-of-bounds trek home via the extreme skiing Stone Creek Trail in Beaver Creek.

Starting his Valley working career in a ski shop, Dave has worked in many different service industries. He has a strong background in architecture and building practices, and an extensive history of customer service.

In 2001, Dave began working directly with Kenton Hopkins. Together, they have garnered positive relationships with everyone who walks through the door, keeping customer service at the fore of every interaction and leading Real Estate in Beaver Creek Resort.

Dave loves what he does, and enjoys helping the people he meets. In his own words, “Real Estate is a relationship. It’s more than just one transaction; it’s a friendship.”

Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Ben came to Vail like most to “temporarily” enjoy the wonderful lifestyle that the Vail Valley provides. After spending the 2009-2010 winter as a ski instructor, Ben was able to find a niche within real estate assisting real estate brokers with their sales and marketing strategies. After demonstrating dedication and enthusi-asm for Real estate in the Vail Valley he joined the team of Hopkins and McHugh in 2012.

When out of the office, you can find Ben exploring the backcountry of Vail and Beaver Creek, in the gym, out on the golf course or finding ways to get out and experience new places and activities.

Joining Hopkins and McHugh has allowed Ben to apply his energy for creating and developing new relationships to real estate, quickly establishing himself as an asset to the team and their customers.
