Columbia College is a private liberal arts women's college related to the United Methodist Church ;with a legacy of developing women leaders possessing the courage, commitment, confidence and competence to build a better world. In addition to the Women’s College, coeducational evening and graduate programs are offered. Enrollment is 1500 students from 23 states and 20 countries.

Dr. Caroline Whitson, President, sought the financial and technical acumen of Linc’s Bundled Energy Services’ team to assist the college with the difficult task of finding the means to replace an aging infrastructure. As with most private colleges, very strict borrowing rules were limiting the college’s ability to address this issue on their own and why Linc’s experience in this area was key to a successful project.

Brenau University is a woman’s college located in Gainesville, Georgia. The historic campus is noted for its preserved buildings and picturesque grounds; however, behind the scenes there were major issues related to the environmental systems. Dr. Wayne Dempsey, Executive VP & CFO, knew Linc from his time in the same role at Shorter College. Dempsey told Linc he needed the same program that Linc provided Shorter, but was concerned because Brenau had no money in the budget for their major replacement needs. Linc developed a self-funding solution that used existing funds to pay for major improvements, including new air conditioning, heating, controls, and lighting systems. Quarterly energy audits have shown savings every quarter since the program was implemented.

Shorter CollegeShorter College is one of the oldest, most respected colleges in Georgia. Like many college campuses across the country, they had serious environmental and equipment issues in many of their facilities. They realized the deferred maintenance problem had to be resolved.

With no capital money available and a tight budget to keep, Mr. Wayne Dempsey, the Sr. Vice President of Administrative Affairs turned to Linc Mechanical to help in finding a solution. His most pressing issue was the Fine Arts building. There were numerous heating, cooling, and environmental problems. In addition, there were major leaks in the building. “It was like standing under a shower in certain areas” said Dick Taylor, Shorter College’s Director of Facilities.

The program Linc Mechanical developed not only resolved these issues, but it is paying for itself out of electric, water, and maintenance savings.
