    2014-2015 JOINT LEGISLATIVE BUDGET HEARINGHigher Education

    Thursday, February 6 - 9:30 A.M.

    HEARING ROOM B, LEGISLATIVE OFFICE BUILDING, ALBANY

    Senate Finance Committee Chair John A. DeFrancisco and Assembly Ways and Means Committee

    Chair Herman D. Farrell, Jr. today announced that the ninth Joint Legislative Hearing in a series of 13hearings will be held on Thursday, February 6.

    During the Higher Education Hearing, which is part of the legislative process to review the 2014-2015

    Executive Budget, higher education officials and representatives of higher education advocacyorganizations will have an opportunity to address the Senate and Assembly fiscal committees.

    These joint legislative hearings will continue through Tuesday, February 11 and are available for liveviewing on the Senate and Assembly websites and the Legislative Channel (available on cable systems

    throughout the state), but will be preempted when the houses are in session. At the conclusion of thelegislative deliberations, live televised coverage of the hearings will resume.

    Among those scheduled to testify are State University of New York Chancellor Dr. Nancy Zimpher;

    City University of New York Chancellor Dr. James Milliken; NYS Education DepartmentCommissioner Dr. John King; Elsa Magee, executive vice president, New York State Higher

    Education Services Corporation; Andrew Pallotta, executive vice president, NYSUT; and BarbaraBowen, president, Professional Staff Congress, CUNY.

    Testimony also will be provided by Frederick Kowal, president United University Professions; LauraAnglin, president, Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities; Kevin Stump, coordinator,

    Higher Education Program and Aileen Sheil, chair, Board of Directors, NYPIRG; Donna Gurrnett,executive director, Association of Proprietary Colleges; and Susan Mead, director of Financial Aid,

    NYS Financial Aid Administrators Association.

    In addition, testimony is expected from Jose Davila, vice president, Hispanic Federation; TremaynePrice, president, SUNY Student Assembly; Muhammad Arshad, chairperson, CUNY Student Center;

    and Luis Gutierrez, vice chair, Graduate Student Affairs and Cynthia Roldan, vice chair, LegislativeAffairs, CUNY Student Senate.
