We have been very impressed with the attitude and effort our football teams have giv-

en this year. To celebrate this we decided to go and visit the home of football, Wembley Stadi-

um. We arrived and it was raining, but that did not dampen our spirits. During the tour we got

to lift the FA cup and walk out onto the pitch and sit in the changing room. It was very special to

stand and imagine what it is like to be an England player walking out for an international match.

We look forward to next season and remember, keep that fitness level up during the summer

break!

GCSE P.E. Pupils Complete Bronze D.of.E Award

Pictured above:

Josh Payne, Katie Lodge, Uche Bartels-Williams,

Rochea Dyer, Oliver Whayman, Ravi Patel and

Matthew Maloney.

All 1st and 2nd Form girls were invited to attend rounders trials this summer.

The girls pictured above were the final squad that was selected. Girls were selected based

on their skills in both fielding, batting and in their tactical knowledge. The season has seen

some excellent competitive fixtures against local schools and they have all been played in

good spirit. Unfortunately due to some days being severe rain, a few fixture had to be

cancelled off, much to the disappointment to the girls. However, with lunchtime weekly

training and extra training in P.E. lessons the girls developed well as a squad, demonstrat-

ing particular strengths in fielding, with there batting skills progressing towards the end of

the season. The girls went on to be silver medallists in the end of season Enfield Borough

tournament, which was held at Winchmore school on the 29th of June.

The current 4th Form GCSE P.E. pupils were recently

away for the weekend in the Chiltern Hills, hill walking and camping,

in-order to complete the expedition section of their Duke of Edin-

burgh Award (D.of.E). The pupils are also using their Bronze D.of.E

Award to count towards part of their GCSE P.E. practical grade. Numerous members of 4th Form took part, the pupils

worked extremely hard using their map reading skills along with being mentally and physically challenged. The weather was glorious,

allowing pupils to enjoy the fun and relaxation time in the evening at

Braid Wood campsite.

Lords Cricket England Vs Sri Lanka

Page 3

Boys Boxing In boxing this year the progress the pupils have made

is remarkable. Every pupil who participated was willing to spar

using body shots and some using head shots, especially when

sparring with me. It has been really exciting to see the develop-

ment and at the end of the sessions we attended the profes-

sional boxing club Edmonton Eagles. This was an excellent op-

portunity for the pupils to train in a ring with Christopher

Evangelou who has won seven out of seven pro fights.

In June the 1st Form cricket team paid a visit to

Lord's cricket ground to watch the 4th day of England

versus Sri Lanka.

The 1st session was washed but this gave the

pupils a great opportunity to go autograph hunting. They

were able to meet players such as Alistair Cook, Ian Bell

and England captain Andrew Strass.

We were fortunate enough to see some good

cricket action in the afternoon with England taking 7

wickets in under 3 hours.

The boys had a wonderful time and the experi-

ence rubbed off in their own performance, defeating

Lochinver House in a rain affected match 2 days later!

Reported by Mr. Russell

I got to do some pad work with Christopher which was great

for the pupils to see as he is very talented and demonstrates excellent

technique. Next year we will be training at the club to develop skills in

a ring.

Sports day 2011 was a huge success, with numerous medals awarded and many records broken.

The morning sessions involved all pupils participating in two field events out of: long jump, shot putt, discuss

Cricket The end of the academic school year was signed off with a spectactular football match between the staff

and sixth Form students versus the 1st Form to 4th Form pupils, managed by Mr. Tardios Jnr.

The staff/sixth Form team dominated the first half and were rewarded with a rather fortunate own goal,

when Jack Vanderpump centred from the left. Mr Weeks and Nicole Couzens defended well and ensured

the staff/sixth Form team went into half time with a 1-0 lead.

The pupils rallied hard in the second half and eventually equalised after a blunder from keeper, Mr Yarlett!

The staff had opportunities to win the game but failed to find the back of the net. The game finished with

the honours even, 1-1. Better luck next year pupils!!
