History of the property at 575 Summer Street in Marshfield MA.

The Magical Moon Farm was once known as The Torey Little Auction House. Many local people still drop by to share fond memories of the huge auctions that once rang through the quiet neighborhood from behind the large barn doors. Others tell of their childhood escapades sliding down the steep hill behind the auction barn then crossing over Summer Street only to end up on the front lawn of Edward Rowe Snow, also known as the Flying Santa of Lighthouses. Mr. Rowe must have been amused to see his young daughter, Dolly following in his adventuresome footsteps. Neighbor, Bill Frigoli tells of the once active wind mill that stood on the hill behind the barn to pump water from a well to an early South Shore Hospital across the street. When the federal style home at 575 Summer Street was built in 1854 it was owned by a sea Captain. When he was lost at sea his widow re-married another sea captain and lived there until the home was sold in the mid 1900’s. The barn was built and it became a Hood dairy farm. It was used as a boarding house for milk men at that time who distributed milk all over New England. The boarding house closed when a fire took the life of a Hood milkman.

Needless to say, when Donna Green bought the property in 1996 there were a few interesting spirits still roaming within the farm house walls. Since that time the only cow that has been seen at the magical old dairy farm has been a life sized painted cow named Moo-nique . Donna painted the cow to be put up on a, Cow Parade auction block in 2007 to raise money for the Jimmy Fund in memory of one of her first knights of the Magical Moon Foundation.

Luca DeLisi dubbed Sir Luca the Loving, Spirit of the Velveteen Rabbit sadly passed away three years ago from a brain tumor. He was just three and lived in Scituate, MA. His mom and dad continue to be great supporters of the work that the Magical Moon Foundation does . They know first hand the importance of community awareness and support for children and their families undergoing treatment for cancer.

Building Our Path of Hope There’s a Magic that surrounds you the moment you step through the stone pillar entrance to the Magical Moon Farm. It’s a warm and loving feeling that encompasses your heart, letting you know everything is happening the way it is meant to. The Velveteen Rabbit whispered a secret in my ear the other day. “all will continue to grow here if you only believe in magic and miracles. One by one, heart shaped rock by rock, you’ll build a path of hope for the children of the earth kingdom.

Miracles are curious little things, magical and rare, sometimes we just have to create our own sense of fairness.” he said. And with that, he placed a small heart shaped rock in my hand and hopped down an invisible path towards the garden.

So with my heart shaped treasure, I walked out to the Magical Moon Garden to create a mosaic Path of Hope for my fellow knights.

We have a huge task here . Building dreams of this magnitude takes many hearts and lots of help. Please consider adding your heart to ours in building this Path of Hope for many brave young knights. Love, Sir Ricky the Relentless

No donation is ever too small. Every dollar helps us and every dollar is appreciated. Please pass this along to friends who have been touched by cancer. They will understand our need to reach out to as many people as possible and quickly.

We will be posting our progress as our Path of Hope grows.
