We, unaccustomed to courageexiles from delightlive coiled in shells of lonelinessuntil love leaves its high holy templeand comes into our sightto liberate us into life.

Love arrivesand in its train come ecstasiesold memories of pleasureancient histories of pain.Yet if we are bold, love strikes away the chains of fearfrom our souls.

We are weaned from our timidityIn the flush of love's lightwe dare be braveAnd suddenly we seethat love costs all we areand will ever be.Yet it is only lovewhich sets us free.

Letter from the Editor

The School year has started in Naples, Florida and the kids are getting in the swing of things. My son, Nathan, had a few schedule changes and wanted to take Spanish but was put into Art. He is unable to switch because of all his other classes so this year he will add Artist to his many titles. The funny thing is he was asked by his brother what are his top three classes and art was one of them! Jake started Spanish class this year and will be completing the 2 year foreign language requirements before high school. He was a bit apprehensive for the first few days and we discussed possibly changing his classes. He said he would make a decision and now Spanish is one of his best classes so far. My daughter, Liz, has two teachers for the first time and one of them is a man. She wasn't sure what to think, but I can see she is enjoying being back-to-school with all her friends and learning so many new things! I wish everyone a beautiful school year! In this issue you will find many articles to help make this happen!

Fiammisday.com Blogger Simona from Florence, Italy

The Children's Fashion Blog Outfit and Kids' StyleOur great friends, Minions, are coming to Italy. We can't wait to go and see them. Fiammetta has yet to become familiar with Despicable Me, but I must say that she loves these cute little men. So, for Aug. 27 it's all set. We, the cinema, the Minions and…a perfect dress.

How to dress up as Minion was really easy and super fun thanks to Funidelia and their wonderful shop online full of costumes of all kinds and for every occasion. A couple of clicks and dressing up as a Minion was really a no-brainer.

Funidelia, among all the costumes for children, has reserved a personalized space and completely dedicated to our friends, the Minions, which look perfect and really funny. The costume for Fiammetta arrived in a few days, ready to be worn on the day of the film at the Cinema. Dress, glasses, headband, socks and gloves. All in one package. Simple, right?

Funidelia really gave me a hand and in a moment it was all done. The quality is good and Fiammetta did not want to take it off. She enjoyed it, in fact, played with her friend and exchanged the role of villain.

I had the pleasure of speaking to a Bariatric Support Group at one of the local hospitals here in Charleston. This was a group of patients that have lost a significant amount of weight (100 + pounds), and are re-discovering who they are in their new body. We had a lot of fun focusing on how you want to FEEL in order to achieve your goals—which is key in success whether for weight loss or growing your business!

One of the big questions that came up was around the timing of when to purchase things that make you feel awesome in your own skin. I often hear I want to wait until I lose weight or get more clients before I invest in up leveling my wardrobe. But really, the time to invest in something that makes you feel awesome is…RIGHT NOW!

Imagine walking into a big client meeting and effortlessly closing the deal. I’m thinking you’ll be pretty excited that you bought a new pair of shoes or an outfit that made you feel confident in that big moment.

So the time is now to feel great and have a little fun while you do it! Check out some of the Fall shoe trends below that can instantly

put a pep in your step this Fall.

Feel powerful in the office with this season’s pointy toes and block heels! (note: all styles can be purchased at Nordstrom)

Thanks Funidelia! You made our day with Minions even more fun. I have already tried something for Halloween. We’ll see...

Q: How Can I Live My Dream?

A: Have you heard any of these lines?

"I would love to do that... but I do not have the money!"

"I would love to start my ownbusiness, but I'm not a good salesman!"

"Where does the day go... there just aren't enough hours in the day!"

"I know I need to start exercising... but I just don't have the time!"

These statements reflect the same problems; the same chain that keeps most adults anchored to the launching pad rather than lifting them toward their dreams during their entire adult life.

You need to Remove the Limits to live the life of your dreams!

The average adult in USA only lives 3,950 weeks. At 30 years old you have used 1560 weeks. At 40 years old you have used 2080 weeks. At 51 you only have 1300 weeks remaining.

NOW is the time to reevaluate the way you have been thinking and LAUNCH!!!!

The Go-Giver Book Review by Nicole Flothe

My mother finished reading this book and said I had to read it as the story was so good! I put the book in my car and wanted to read it, but never quite got the time until one day I couldn't put it down. I loved how the story of the business man struggling to find out how he

could make his end of the month quota found the true meaning of business and life success. The book shared the Five Laws of Stratospheric Success and he was introduced to five special people that shared their stories and how they were able to find the secret of success.

The other day I was talking with my friend, Shelly, and told her about the book. She said it was funny because she had just found the book at her house and placed it beside her bedstand to read. I believe it was time for both of us to read this great book and if you get the time, I'd highly recommend it! Enjoy below the Five Laws of Stratospheric Success!

The Printer and The Preacher Book Review by Nicole Flothe

http://www.thegogiver.com/downloads/The-5-Laws.pdf

This story title intrigued me and the book shared how the strange friendship between George Whitefield and Benjamin Franklin was created. I was able to select this book from BookLookBloggers.com and provide my review. These men together defined what it means to be an American.

They were the most famous men in America. They came from separate countries, followed different philosophies, and led dissimilar lives. But they were fast friends. No two people did more to shape America in the mid-1700s.

Benjamin Franklin was the American prototype: hard-working, inventive, practical, funny, with humble manners and lofty dreams. George Whitefield was the most popular preacher in an era of great piety, whose outdoor preaching across the colonies was heard by thousands, all of whom were told, “You must be born again.” People became excited about God. They began reading the Bible and supporting charities. When Whitefield died in 1770, on a preaching tour in New Hampshire, he had built a spiritual foundation for a new nation—just as his surviving friend,

Ben Franklin, had built its social foundation. Together these two men helped establish a new nation founded on liberty. This is the story of their amazing friendship.

Here are a few highlights from the book that I enjoyed:

Success was available if you were willing to work for it. - Ben Franklin

How on earth did these two very different men become friends? It began as a business partnership. In 1739, Franklin was one of several printers to publish Whitefield's journals and sermons.

Newspapers had existed, but it was Ben who harnessed their power. George employed advertising techniques that were cutting-edge for business enterprises and absolutely revolutionary in the church.

Some of this correspondence has surely been lost, but the letters that remain provide a fascinating slideshow of a relationship-in-progress between two extraordinary people.

The two men carried on a meaningful friendship for more than thirty years.

George was an Englishman who loved America, crossing the ocean thirteen times in a period of thirty-two years (all the more stunning when you consider that each trip took two to four months.

Each of these men individually had a major influence on the emerging American society. The Great Awakening that Whitefield carried through the colonies set a tone of personal religious commitment that endures today. Yet Franklin's humanism also endures. The ideals he promoted, the civic responsibilities of citizens banding together for the common good, took root in the founding documents of this nation.

What is one condition that 80% of us will have at one point in our lives? It is a condition that is a major public health concern accounting for vast health care expenditures, as well as work days lost. Among the United States this condition was in the top ten most expensive medical conditions treated in 2005. In the past, this condition accounted for over $50 billion in approximate health care costs annually. The condition that I am speaking of is lower back pain. In the United States, lower back pain is the second leading cause of disability, and the most common cause of work related disability in people under 45. In addition, the average worker’s compensation claim for back injury is $8,300, which is more than twice the average cost of all other compensable claims.

So what are your options? The health care costs described above are all traditional medical costs, or the cost to be treated by a medical doctor, doctor of osteopathy, a physical therapist, or any combination of the three. Time and time again chiropractors show just as good or better results for the care of lower back pain. In addition, typical cost of chiropractic care is significantly less than that of traditional medical costs. In one study comparing chiropractic vs. medical cost for lower back pain, the results showed that paid costs for episodes of care initiated by a chiropractor were almost 40 percent less than care initiated through a medical doctor. The study estimated that chiropractic vs. medical episodes of care would have led to an annual cost savings of $2.3 million for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee. The amazing thing is that this is for one state, and one insurance company. Imagine the health care cost difference if you extrapolate the cost savings over the entire country.

In conclusion, chiropractic should be considered as a valid treatment option for lower back pain. With the cost of health care rising, plus the state of the economy, chiropractic care should be considered as the first and foremost treatment option for lower back pain. Chiropractic care costs less, is less invasive, and yields just as good as or better than results than traditional medical treatment.

You probably look forward to sending the kids back to school in the fall with mixed emotions. It's a fresh start on the school year and kids are out of the house and busy, but you're back on the treadmill, trying to keep up with many demands. Take the stress out of adjusting to back-to-school by getting some help. No, you don't need a maid or nanny. Enlisting each family member to pitch in relieves the burden parents put on themselves when they try to keep the house "up to standards." Sacrificing perfection in exchange for more time to spend with the family is a good trade-off. And helping with family chores teaches kids responsibility, helps them feel important to the family, and teaches them how to fend for themselves. You'd be surprised what your kids are capable of. After all, they'll be leaving the nest someday and need to know how to manage on their own.

Get the family together and have them come up with a list of chores your family needs to have done. When they come up with their own list and choose the chores, they're more willing to buy into the idea. Post the list in a common area and have each family member write their name by the chores they'll do. To make it interesting, change job assignments on a regular basis. For those who feel guilty giving kids "so much extra work to do" on top of school and activities, just think what all you do for them while they watch TV, play video games, or read a book.

Three other family chores kids can contribute to:

1. School lunches – Children over the age of 7 or 8 can learn to plan and prepare their own lunches.

2. Homework - Kids need to be in charge of unloading backpacks, cleaning out food and clothes, presenting permission slips for signing, doing their homework without prompting, and keeping track of upcoming activities on the family calendar.

3. Family Calendar – Keep a family calendar with school and family activities, school project due dates, birthdays, etc. Kids can be responsible for putting their own activities on the list and letting everyone know about upcoming important dates.

Enjoy!

Ever thought of travel as educational? Keeping up with kids' lesson topics can help them get real world exposure to what they're learning in class. If teachers give out a list of upcoming class topics, visit places that help them learn more about what they're studying. Kids can look up places you’re going to visit and see what nearby sites or activities coincide with their lessons. They can take pictures, get brochures, and keep notes in a notebook. Not only will they gain better understanding of their topics, they just may get extra credit in school!

Duke University, Summer Road Trip 2015

My son's family took a road trip this summer and on their way home visited Duke University in North Carolina. They loved the history, enjoyed the bookstore, the Chapel, and walked the Hall of Fame. In the indoor Cameron Stadium they have a really nice display of the school's achievements and history. The boys were able to walk out on the court and sit in the stands. Great Memories!

What The Tech Does That Mean?...by Beth Gatrell

A new school year brings new studies and new questions. With the Internet being available to students, there are many places to look for answers. Search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing and Dogpile give you many options with links to topics you are looking for.

August Appsby Nicole Flothe

August Apps: My kids get games on their devices and I have this great feature that downloads them automatically on my phone. Angry Birds 2, Happy Wheels, and Service Bell are three they downloaded this month. For Social Media I am now using QR Reader to scan those icons on packages and brochures. I also use blab, which is a fairly new platform where you can watch up to four people hosting live streaming conversations on business, travel, health, or other interesting topics and they have a hot seat where you can join in and ask live questions. My Diet Coach is a pretty and functional food tracking app. Layout was recommended by Instagram to make collages of pictures. GiPHY CAM is a cool app to make short gifs with fun backgrounds or funny faces. Can't wait to make my first GIF. And lastly, my son's high school just announced they had a new app, so I downloaded Palmetto Ridge to keep up with the news. Go Bears! What apps do you use most often?

Dictionary.com is a great resource for not only the correct pronunciation and spelling of words, but also for extras like the Word of the Day and crossword puzzles. Merriam Webster is another fantastic place to look for word definitions and spelling, quizzes, frequently looked up words, trends, and more. If you’re looking for a more comprehensive explanation, try an online Encyclopedia or Britannica which will give explanations, videos, facts, pictures, and much more. Most of the dictionaries and encyclopedias also offer mobile Apps so you can always access the info you need. There are even sites that can help you in a particular field of study, including Math Words and Math is Fun, which will give you meanings for just about every math term out there. If you need information on converting measurements and their equivalents, take a peek at Online Conversion or Convert-me, which both have easy tools to calculate what you need.

For times when we need to find out what something means in a different language, Google and Free Translation are quick and easy tools to use. Mobile Apps are also available including Speak & Translate which allows you to speak into your device and translate to many different languages. And if you need someone to translate your tech, stop by and visit with us “Into Tomorrow” and ASK DAVE!
