MASATO YASUI

Momose Yasuo has been the chief bui lder of Headway s ince i ts es tabl ishment in 1977. He

deve loped numbers o f me thods in acous t i c gu i t a r bu i ld ing th rough h i s long ca ree r and

have been acclaimed as master bui lder in the guitar industry of Japan.

Yasui Masato spent many years support ing Momose for the bui lding of customshop acoust ic

gu i t a r s s ince he en te red Headway team in 2002 . He was ass igned to the l eader o f Aska

Team Build l ine in 2011 and s tar ted taking more important role a t the workshop. In 2016,

he f inal ly s tar ted the career as customshop bui lder.

ASKA Team Build series


Aska Team Build guitars are built by a team of the most

experienced luthiers at our Aska workshop. They are built in

the same way Momose developed in his careers and with the

highest quality materials and parts. ATB line often releases

limited models built with rare exotic materials and/or intricate

inlay works. Such limited models have unique design that is

mostly concerned with Japanese traditional culture.

Important Features of ATB models

The doveta i l joint g reat ly cont r ibutes to tone of

an acoust ic guita r and makes a guita r responsive

and powerful. On our neck, the V shaped mortise is

designed bigger compared to general dovetail joint and

so that neck is very tightly inserted into body. This

construction increases strength of the joint section and

the guitar sounds and responds as if it is made of a

single solid piece of tonewood.

While majority of acoustic guitar manufacturers finish

their acoustic guitar after neck is jointed with body, we

finish neck and body separately before they are put up

together. There are two reasons why we do it. Firstly

this way makes the neck joint beautifully done without

a pool of coating material. Secondly it shows how

precisely and tightly neck is jointed with body because

joint section is not covered with coating nor painting.

STANDARD seriesStandard series also features dovetail neck joint and all solid

tonewoods as well as ATB series does. Headway's original

aluminum channel inserted in neck increases durability. Most of

the standard models are build with forwarded-sifted scalloped

bracing so that the guitar is resonant from brand-new condition.

Japan Tune-up series


Headway Japan Tune-up ser ies is a new cost

performance line introduced in 2016. Literally every

single guitar of JT series is carefully tuned up at our

workshop in Japan to deliver Headway's quality at

more budget friendly prices.

Features

-Rounded Fret Edges Every fret is rounded by hand of builders to increase playabil ity as well as beauty. One can move left hand smoothly on the fingerboard without being disturbed by edges. The edges of nut and saddle are also rounded.

-Low actionJT guitars are set in moderately low action. It is important that an acoustic guitar's action is not too high especially for an entry-level to mid class player. Height of saddle and strong slots of nut are carefully adjusted.

-Elixir StringsWe selected elixir nanoweb light gauge strings as the factory default strings of JT series.

HJ-OSAMURAISAN

Osamuraisan has become one of the most popular solo acoustic guitar ists in online

communities of Japan and some Asian countries with number of videos uploaded onto his

own Youtube channel. In 2016, the total views of his YouTube channel reached 60 millions.

Headway and Osamuraisan teamed up and developed HJ-OSAMURIASAN in 2016 with

a focus on ease of playing. He was aware ease of playing is very important especially for

entry class players through communication with his young fans who hope to improve skills

of acoustic guitars. Many of them quit playing the guitars due to the difficulty of holding

strings. This is why he wanted to make his signature model easy to play on. Various efforts

are made in order to realize his idea. The guitar is stringed with extra light strings and set

in the lowest possible action.

The design of HJ-OSAMURAISAN is based on Customshop HJ-523, the acoustic guitar he

has exclusively been playing with it for more than 10 years.
