Australian Rotary Health at SMHR2017
Australian Rotary Health was pleased to play a part at the Society for Mental
Health Research (SMHR) conference once again this year, by running the
annual Media Training Workshop and sponsoring the Australian Rotary Health
Knowledge Dissemination Award.
For 2017, Dr Cath Chapman was the deserving recipient, recognised for her
work on the Cracks in the Ice program.

Suicide Tragedy Urges Family to SupportPrevention Research
Wauchope – Bonny Hills couple Clint and Michelle Miller made a $3,000
donation to Australian Rotary Health recently, in honour of their son Hayden
who took his own life earlier this year.
The funds will be used towards suicide prevention research.

Last month the Rotary Club of Colac West were delighted to receive a visit from
Australian Rotary Health supported researchers, Melanie Ashton and Emma
Gliddon.
Melanie and Emma are both recipients of a Funding Partner PhD Scholarship
from ARH, the Ian Parker Bipolar Fund, and Deakin University.

The Inroads online program is now available online. It was launched recently at
the Society for Mental Health Research conference, and aims to help young
people struggling with anxiety and alcohol abuse.
Australian Rotary Health is proud to have provided funding for this program.

Researchers at Macquarie University are looking for children across Australia
to take part in The Cool Kids - Taking Control anti-bullying program.
The study, funded by an Australian Rotary Health Mental Health Research
Grant, aims to teach valuable skills to children aged seven to 12 who have
experienced bullying and anxiety.
