1 Towerline Rd Trailhead Yes No No
2 Saginaw Rd Trailhead Yes No NoWith its ample lodging, and famous restaurants and shopping, Franken-muth is one of Michigan’s great tourist destinations. It’s also the ideal place to stay while exploring nearby trails and enjoying the local flavor. Within a short drive to popular trails in Saginaw, Bay City and Millington, you can also explore the Harger Line Rail-Trail just a few miles north of town and the Frankenmuth River-walk just a few steps away from the downtown shopping district.
Harger Line Rail-TrailThe Harger Line Railway was built in the late 1800s to connect Saginaw with Michigan’s “Thumb” area. In 2006, the section of railway from I-75 to Richville was purchased by the Michigan DOT for recreational use. In 2008, the railway was converted into a paved nonmotorized, multi-use trail by the Michigan DNR. Nearly 10 miles long, the Harger Line Rail-Trail travels through some of Michigan’s most fertile farm country. You’ll pass by large expansive fields of cucumbers, corn, wheat, various kinds of beans and lots of sugar beets as you ride through this serene landscape. The entire trail is flat, easy to ride and well maintained with convenient trailheads located at either end.

Frankenmuth RiverwalkWhile you’re exploring downtown Frankenmuth, make sure to take a pleasant stroll or leisurely ride on the 0.9-mile Frankenmuth Riverwalk. Sheltered by a grove of weeping willows, the Riverwalk encircles Heritage Park on a peninsula along the banks of the Cass River. Heritage Park is Frankenmuth’s most popular park and home to many community festivals and events during the year, including the “World Expo of Beer” in May. Canoe and kayak rentals are available along the Riverwalk for a fun paddle adventure up or down the Cass River.
