HARBOR HAPPENINGS A Monthly Newsletter For Members
April 2013
Jimmy’s Corner
I’m proud that the Grand Harbor community commits to so many fundraisers and events throughout the year to show their appreciation and support for men and women in uniform, military families and veterans.
It is in that spirit which prompted me to share with you all the following video, which has touched me greatly.
The following depicts a golf course in Washington that has a very specific focus.
It is there solely for disabled veterans. The golf carts are custom-designed for
missing legs. And the features are designed with handicaps in mind. Part of the
course was even designed by Jack Nicklaus. I hope you enjoy.

Relay For Life Dinner & Golf Tournament
This marks the 9th year we get together as a community to “honor” victims, those currently “fighting” and to “celebrate” survivors of this terrible disease. We are having 1 main event this year. This will be a Grand Harbor member’s 1 day dinner and golf tournament here at the club. Form your own foursome or sign up at the club and we will pair you with a team. Members may invite guests to join your foursome. Each group is required to be accompanied by a Grand Harbor member. For those members of the community that do not play golf we will have dinner and activities at the club following the tournament for all. Your entry fee is an individual or team donation, in an amount you choose. For dinner participants only, your donation pays for your dinner and activities at the club. All donations are contributed to our local American Cancer Society on behalf of the Grand Harbor Patriots. Dinner and activities will follow after golf and is open to tournament participants and all club members who wish to attend. Golf this year is a Captain’s Choice format with a 1 p.m. shotgun. More details coming soon! SAVE THE DATE NOW, PLEASE! We must continue the fight against this horrific disease! Thank you, The Patriot Relay Committee

Golf Rules and Regulations Reminder
All players must register in the Golf Shop prior to play or using the driving range.
It is highly recommended that tee times be made to avoid conflict and to assure proper service
can be extended to you and your guests.
Please make sure to repair your ball marks and any other ball marks you may see on the greens.
Please make sure to put sand in your divots and please do not over fill divots; it is only necessary
to lightly cover the damaged area with sand.
Please rake bunkers and leave rakes inside bunkers at least 3 feet away from the lip of the
bunker.
Golf carts must remain on paved cart paths around all tees and greens. Signs are on the golf
course to direct carts to the cart paths, please make sure your cart is on the path at and beyond
those cart signs. It is not acceptable to drive carts around the greens in the rough unless you
have a red flag issued by the golf shop.
Members may not use their personal golf carts on the course unless they are trail fee members or
a cart fee is paid at the golf shop. Information regarding trail fees is available at the golf shop.
The golf course and cart paths are not to be used for recreational activities other than golf after
7:30am, such as walking and biking. If walking dogs, it is mandatory that all feces be cleaned up
on the golf course.
