Happy New Year!
Are you ready for a great new year on the homestead?
Wow! Can you believe it's already 2020? When I was little I really thought by2020 we would be living like the Jetsons! Ok, maybe I had an activeimagination.
But things have definitely changed for the website, the homestead and myself.This first email of the year is going to walk you through what's new anddifferent, and what to expect from me in 2020.
The reason for many of these changes is due to the events and happeningsthat took place in 2019. You can read my post, "2019, From The Worst ToThe Best" to read about them.
Ok, are you ready to see what this will bring? Here we go...
Changes To The Website
I have made some changes to the website and there are more to come! Forstarters, I have a new logo being designed as we speak! This new logo comeswith new colors and fonts too! You should see the change in mid-January.
The newsletter will now be monthly.
I made the decision to send one longer email on the first Friday of each month.This email will be lengthy but it will be filled with information.
Topics will include:
What content is planned for the month
Free stuff just for you, my loyal reader
Any important giveaways or sales I think you may like
My monthly homestead plans
Pics of the shenanigans that happen here on the homestead
News and events that pertain to my website or my homestead
More surprises I can't let out of the bag yet

January Homestead Plans
The Homestead Animals:
All the laying hens and roosters were sold to make room for a new batchin the Spring. We want to order specific breeds this time.
The sheep, Thelma and Louise, were also sold. We sold them to a farmthat raises sheep organically and never kills them.
We sold a few pigs too. We now have 11 various breeds. We will breed
our Hampshires and sell the piglets. Molly, my potbellied pig, my 2KhuneKhunes, and Pork Chop will remain here as their forever home. Weare not sure about the rest yet.
We have only 4 dogs and 7 cats down from 8 dogs and 12 cats.
The ducks will stay.
This year our animals will be bought with purpose, not as pets. The feed billdoes not allow for "pets" outside of the dogs and cats. We want chickens foreggs as well as income, pigs for pork and breeding income, and ducks for eggsto sell.
We still have 12 meat chickens, but they will be in the freezer in a few weeks.
I do intend on purchasing a calf or two and some rabbits this year, but that willbe later on.
Other Areas of The Homestead:
Lance is home full-time now until the mowing season starts again.
We are working towards our dream of being off-grid completely by theend of the year.
We will build a farm stand near our driveway that we will operate on theweekends to the locals here.
We intend on building our own greenhouse separate from where itcurrently is and unattached to the house.
We are currently undertaking a whole house remodel, and it is achallenge!
2020 is about making a more stable and substantial living on ourhomestead.
We have set some plans in order to achieve this goal:

Our personal plans for 2020 include the following:
Marriage plans, but date not set. We are going for simple here.
Having all the grandchildren for 3 weeks over the summer! All 6 of them!
Speaking engagements locally about homesteading and how to getstarted.
Become a member of a local church.
