Hand Traction System
• Arthroscopy of the wrist• Surgical treatment of the
wrist and fingers
Leibinger Solutions for Hand Surgery
Hand Traction System
• Completely autoclavable system• Easy to apply on the operating table• Ability to apply traction from 0 to 2000 grams• Ability to place up to three digits in traction
The hand traction system has been developed for arthroscopy of the wrist and surgical treatment of the wrist and fingers.
Indications
l Arthroscopy of the wrist– Ability to undertake immediate surgical intervention without changing the operative set-up
l Surgery of the shaft of the thumbl Trapezo-metacarpal arthrosisl Fracture or pseudoarthrosis of the scaphoidl Fracture of the base of the first metacarpal
Trauma surgery
Reduction and setting of fractures of the proximal phalanx or the metacarpal bones
Clinical examples
Arthroscopy of the wristFracture of the base of the fifth metacarpalIntroduction of a trapezo-metacarpal prosthesisPseudoarthrosis of the scaphoid
Method of use
1. The traction system is sterilized separately with finger sleeves of suitable size (small, medium, large and extra large)2. The traction system is fixed to the distal end of the operation table in the operative field3. The finger sleeves are positioned in accordance with the indication:
– on the tumb and index finger for arthroscopies involving the radial side of the wrist– on the fourth and fifth digits for arthroscopies involving the ulnar side of the wrist– on the thumb for surgery of the shaft of the thumb– on the injured finger in cases of fracture
4. The traction system is hooked up to the finger sleeves. The required traction is regulated by the length of the chain, which canbe adjusted by means of the notch at the base of the hook. The traction is visualised by the position of a red mark on thecylindrical part of the chain in relation to a gauge on the traction system. The usual amount of traction for arthroscopy ofthe wrist ranges from 1750 to 2000 grams. For reduction of fractures, the traction is adjusted until a good alignment of thefragments is obtained.

Gebrauchsanweisung
