Hand sewing needles:

The higher the needle number, the finer and shorter

the needle. Betweens have the same wire diameter

as the respective no. in sharps but they are approx.

7 mm (1/4”) shorter. Both needle types are available

in packs in single sizes as well as in assorted sizes.

Sharps are our standard

sewing needles, used to

sew anything any way

you like. Many users

prefer sharps because

they are easier to grip.

Betweens are ideal for

professional sewing and

handicraft techniques like

backstitch and appliqué.

They are also the quilter’s

favourites as they facilitate

quick stitching.

• Self-threading needles

• Jersey needles

• Millinery needles

With self-threading

needles the thread is

simply pulled from

above into the split eye.

This needle type was

specially developed

for people who have

difficulty in threading

ordinary needles.

The Jersey sewing needle

is suitable for use on

jersey, stretch, synthetic

and all loosely woven and

knitted fabrics.

The ball point carefully

displaces the fabric threads

instead of piercing them.

Millinery needles are long

with round eyes.

They are not only used

by hat makers but are also

ideally suitable for

smocking and pleating.

Embroidery needles

• Chenille

• Crewel

For fine embroidery we have a special needle known

as a crewel needle. These slender needles with a

somewhat larger eye can take one or more threads

of stranded cotton, e.g. for white linen embroidery.

As they correspond in length and gauge with the sharps

needles, and are also easier to thread, they are often

used as a sewing needle.

Embroidery needles

• Tapestry

• Smyrna

Tapestry needles (with blunt point) are most

suitable for counted thread embroidery on coarse-

weave or even-weave fabrics. For closely woven

fabrics we recommend the use of sharp-pointed

chenille needles.

Both needles have large eyes which are suitable

for thicker thread or wool.

Smyrna needles are thick

embroidery needles with

blunt points and large eyes.

With this needle you can

easily trim carpets and even

make wall hangings.

Sewing, embroidery and darning needles.

For each material application, there is the

optimal point – for normal sewing work the

point is long and especially slender. Leather

requires triangular cutting points. Tapestry

needles with blunt points facilitate embroidery

on coarse-weave fabrics.
