inform and reassure their customers that their products are Halal and Syariah- compliant.
HALAL Certification is essential in today’s world since advances in science and technology
have created many new products using scientifically-based ingredients. As a leading producer
of Halal products it is essential for manufacturers and businesses in Malaysia to use valid
HALAL logos in order to comply with the rules and regulations that have been set by department of Islamic
Development Malaysia (JAKIM).

Various recent amendments to trade descriptions laws, which the Department of Islamic Development
Malaysia (JAKIM) has worked in cooperation with the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and
Consumerism (MDTCC) will also be discussed. Amongst these law are the:
� Trade Descriptions (Define of Halal) Order 2011
� Trade Descriptions (Certification and Marking of Halal) Order 2011
� Trade Descriptions (Certification and Marking of Halal Fees) Regulations 2011
This seminar will enable manufacturers and businesses to understand the Halal concept and its
requirements.
