  • 10/9/14 Wright State University-Miami Valley College of Nursing and Health GUIDELINES FOR REQUIRED TESTING FOR ADMISSION TO THE NURSING PROGRAM What is the HESI RN Admission Assessment Exam? The Evolve Reach RN Admission Assessment Exam (A2) is a computer-based test consisting of a number of separate modules. What content will be included in the test? The test has three modules:

    1. English Language which includes reading comprehension, vocabulary and general knowledge and grammar. 2. Math focuses on math skills needed for health care fields, including basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, decimals,

    ratio and proportion, household measurements, general math facts, etc. 3. Science

    a. Biology covers biology basics, water, biological molecules, metabolism, cells, respiration, photosynthesis, etc. b. Chemistry contains test items that cover matter, chemical equations and reactions, the periodic table, atomic structure

    nuclear chemistry, chemical bonding, etc. c. Students will not be tested on anatomy, physiology or physics.

    When can I register and take the test? For the May 15th application deadline: Students must register for the test by May 1st. The test must be taken no later than May 8th.

    For the September 15th application deadline: Students must register for the test by September 1st. The test must be taken no later than September 8th.

    Normally, a student can take the test within a week after registration. What is Wright State Universitys Department ID? 198996 How do I register for the test? To register for your Elsevier I HESI exam, you will need an Evolve student account. If you do not already have one, you can create it at:

    https://evolve.elsevier.com/cs/Satellite/StudentHome?Audience=Student. Click on the Register for a HESI Exam link located under Quick Links. Click on the Register button and follow the steps to create your Evolve student account. Once you have created an Evolve student account, then you login to Evolve with your Evolve student account. Click on My Exams & Remediation at the Evolve homepage. Then click on Register for Distance Exam and do the following:

    1) Enter your schools ID #: Wright State Universitys Dept. ID is 198996 2) Select the appropriate exam: A2 (V1 for the first time taking the exam or V2 for the second time taking the exam) 3) Verify and check the box that reads My Evolve profile is the same as it appears on my government issued photo ID. 4) Confirm information by selecting the check box at the bottom of the page 5) Click Submit button

    You will receive an email Confirmation Notice indicating that you may schedule your exam. Please carefully review the information contained in your Confirmation Notice. If any of the information is incorrect or if the information has changed, please contact Elsevier Review and Testing at exameligibility@elsevier.com. Failure to do so could result in forfeiture of your testing appointment and associated fees. PLEASE NOTE: You will receive your Eligibility ID within 1-3 business days of your receipt of your eligibility request. Once it is processed, you will receive an email confirming your eligibility and providing instruction that directs you to the Prometric website to schedule and pay for the exam. If you have problems while registering for the exam (i.e., error messages), please contact Evolve at 800.950.2728 x6935. What is the cost of the test? $93.00 per test Where can I take the exam? You can take the test at any Prometric testing center. There is a testing center on Dayton Xenia Road in Beavercreek. Once you follow the registration process listed above, you will receive an email confirming your eligibility and providing instructions that direct you to the Prometric website to schedule and pay for the exam.

  • How can I prepare for the test? You can purchase Admission Assessment Exam Review, 3rd Edition (ISBN 978-1455703333) or purchase an online text. The study guide can be purchased at the WSU bookstore. To purchase the text online and register for the online review, go to https://evolve.elsevier.com/cs/Satellite/StudentHome?Audience=Student and type in Admission Assessment in the search box. Also, you can purchase McGraw-Hills Nursing School Entrance Exams, 2rd Edition (ISBN 978-0071810494). How far in advance of entering the nursing program can I take the test? Wright State University Miami Valley College of Nursing and Health has no age limit on the test scores. You may take the test at any time. How much time is allotted to take the test? Students are permitted four hours to complete the test. What score must I achieve to be eligible for admission to Wright State Universitys College of Nursing and Heath? You must achieve a composite score of 80% on each subject area of the test. What if I am unsuccessful on my first attempt on the HESI A2? There are two versions of the exam. If you do not score above an 80% on each section of the exam on the first attempt, you may take it a second time, but it must be within six months of the first. On the second attempt, you are only required to re-take the sections in which you need an improved score, but you will still be charged the full price of the exam. If you do not pass the HESI RN Assessment Exam on your second attempt, you are no longer eligible to apply for admission to Wright State University Miami Valley College of Nursing and Health.
