them. It is ok to leave the garden hose hooked up if it is in the garage and stays above a
freezing temperature.

Doing this will mean you spend less money on utilities, since your tank will use less energy
heating the water.
If the flapper is worn or damaged, or if you see the flapper seat covered in mineral deposits,
this allows water to run continuously in the bowl, and that in turn can give you a much higher
water bill. A simple cleaning or replacement of the flapper and/or flapper seat will solve this
problem.
Every so often, inspect the floor around your toilet and see if it has gone soft. You can check
for softness or weakness in the floor by placing one foot on each side of the toilet and rocking
back and forth. Picking up on any problems now will definitely work to save you money later.
