SPOTLIGHT: FPDRTCSpecial thanks to the staff of the Fresno Police Department Regional Training Center and Fresno Police Chief Dyer for opening your outstanding facility to us. Your staff was professional and helpful and the facility a great location.

The FPDRTC serves central California law enforcement agencies from the coast to the desert. The facility covers nearly 80 acres and features "smart" classrooms, seven firearms ranges (including a 200 yard rifle range), a 3-story tactical training house, sniper tower, a sprawling Emergency Vehicle Operations Course, mat room, driving and force options simulators.

SPOTLIGHT: HRLETFSpecial thanks to the staff of the Highlands Ranch Law Enforcement Training Facility, Sheriff Weaver and Dan P. for opening your doors to us and making us feel at home.

The HRLETF serves more than 60 agencies in the greater Denver Metro area and is the home of the Colorado Sheriff's Association. The facility features eight distinct ranges including a full shoothouse with stairway, formal ranges and an open range with a 180º field of fire. An expansion is underway which will provide additional classroom training opportunities.

WARDELL AnDERSON“Dell” started in the Air Force, where he spent 5 years before entering law enforcement, enjoying the structure and opportunity to serve and help people in both.

Dell worked patrol at first (as all new officers do) before moving to the MFF (Mobile Field Force) tactical response team. He’s now assigned to training, with a collateral assignment to SWAT. He teaches a broad spectrum of topics and likes the variety of subjects and skill sets a training officer must remain proficient in to be effective.

He spends his spare time outdoors, camping and hiking and engaging in rampant piscine carnage. He is a quiet, serious man of subtle and unexpected humor.

Nathan M.Part of the 5.11 Tactical Family, Nathan was drawn to 5.11 after a medical discharge (non-combat related) from the Marine Corps in order to stay connected to the military community, and be a resource and solutions provider to his brothers and sisters serving in harm’s way.

Described as "intense" by friends, Nathan is proud to wear that title. He approaches life with that intensity. When not pursuing 5.11 interests, Nathan can be found training - mind, body and spirit.

In late 2012 through 2013 he will be running twelve 100-mile ultra-marathons while wearing a fully weighted plate carrier in order to raise $100,000 to support Fitco Cares Heroes Project. The Heroes Project provides rehabilitation to Iraq and Afghanistan wounded veterans through physical fitness programs.

Derek KumagAiAn easy-going, quiet officer who is nearly impossible to ruffle and like many others, Law Enforcement runs in his family (his Grandfather was a local county Deputy Sheriff).

MATT VINCENT & TURBOA dedicated family man, Matt has been a police officer for fifteen years, the last three as a K9 handler. Before partnering with Turbo (a four year old Belgian Malinois), Matt worked patrol, the District Crime Suppression Team. He is the youngest of six boys, five of whom are in law enforcement. He grew up watching his brothers on the jobb and doesn’t believe there was ever any question of whether he’d do the same. He is now, without a doubt, exactly where he wants to be.

Matt enjoys camping, skiing and hunting, particularly turkey hunting, but the two things he seems most passionate about are his family and Turbo, who is without a doubt the most hedonistic and easy-going police dog on the planet until he turns on the attitude and teeth. “I love working with Turbo,” Matt says. “As a dog handler, working with a tactical unit…I’m never on the sidelines. I’m always in the game.”

Keeney has worked patrol, VCTF (Violent Crime Task Force), Problem Oriented Policing unit, SWAT, and Bicycle Patrol, as well as some time in Personnel as a RTO (Recruit Training Officer).
