Delevingnewas losing her ‘mind’
making ‘Suicide Squad’
Cara Delevingne felt like she was losing her ‘mind’ whilemaking ‘Suicide Squad’. The 23-year-old actress, who starsas Enchantress in the much-anticipated new comic book
movie, has revealed she fantasized about killing people in“demonic” moments during filming. She explained: “I tried toimagine the darkest thing for a long time, like seeing peoplecrumble and their skin melt in front of me or making peopleimplode and trying to use my imagination in dark ways. “Iremember seeing a guy behind a bar cutting up a cucumber thenseeing him cut all the way up his hand and I thought, ‘I’m losingmy mind! “Is this going to stick? Am I going to have to be sent inand locked away? “I don’t like being by myself anyway but it wasmore scary when I was acting out the role. “I didn’t like goinghome and being alone with these thoughts. “When I was in theoutfit, I was far more demonic than I’m shown on screen, my char-acter definitely felt evil and living in that was very emotional. “Istudied addiction, desperation, that void. It was draining, desper-ate, exhilarating and maddening.” Asked whether she could everbe as evil as her on-screen character, Cara told The Sun on Sundaynewspaper: “I’d rob a bank if I could get away with it. I would kill.”Meanwhile, Cara revealed she took inspiration for the film fromher own childhood, when she was obsessed with witchcraft. Sheexplained: “I’ve always been a big fan of witches so I knew a bitabout that in the magic sense of it. I thought of her as a demon.“It was more about finding the evil in myself and finding thedemon and the darkest parts of myself, why people do things andwant to destroy the world and, most of all, have no heart. Or ifthey did, why did they lose it all? What happened to them?”
The 26-year-old beauty - who shotinto the limelight in 2008 when shestarred as Isabella ‘Bella’ Swan in the
popular franchise ‘Twilight’ - is desperate-ly trying to carve out a career as a direc-tor but has admitted she still loves acting- although she doesn’t like the things thatcome with it. She explained: “When I’mmaking a movie or developing some-thing, I really do forget about ‘celebrity’and that I have some responsibility tointeract with the public on what is for mea very personal level, but for them notpersonal at all. It’s an entirely imbalancedrelationship.” However, the blonde beautymay not like the consequences that comewith her high-profile career but she hasadmitted her work has saved her on morethan one occasion. She said: “I have areally strong sense of identity when I’m
working. If I’m having a bad day, or some-thing existential or hormonal... if any-thing brings me down, I’m lucky if I haveto go to work that day. And that could beanything.” And, although she’d like toshed her identity for a day, Kristenbelieves she would be desperate to get inthe public eye if she wasn’t famous. Sheexplained to ELLE magazine: “Maybe I’dbe more confident. Maybe I’d have a pub-lic Instagram and be obsessed with howmany followers I had, as I’d need all theattention. “I’d be one of those peopletalking really loudly in restaurants. I’dneed to per form. Actors want to belooked at. I am the antithesis of thatwhen I’m in public. Then I’m like, ‘Pleaseeveryone, I don’t want to exist.’ But thereis still a strong desire in me to be seen. It’sso weird.”
