Gordon Landscape Architecture | www.gordonla.com 2011 Capital Construction Award of Excellence Recipient Gordon Landscape Architecture is proud to announce that the new Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT)Administration Building has received the 2011 Capital Construction Award of Excellence from Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Services. The facility houses about 165,000 gross square feet of office space and serves as headquarters for VDOT’s Northern Virginia District Offices and the Virginia State Police Division 7. It includes staff offices, conference and training rooms, and employee amenities including a private exterior patio and bicycle facilities. The project follows the West Ox Road Complex Design Guidelines and is currently pursuing a LEED ® Silver Certification under US Green Building Council’s New Construction and Major Renovations rating system. Some of the sustainable site practices include native landscaping, increased open space, and preferred parking. Gordon provided landscape architecture, civil design, and land surveying services for the project.
