Step 1 — Camera Lens

Remove the faceplate by carefullyprying around the edge.

Loosen the clips on the edge, thenpull the faceplate off. Be awarethat there is double stick tapeholding it in place(indicated by thered arrow).

The power button on the front ofthe GoPro may pop off.

Step 2

Take the PH000 philips headscrewdriver and remove the 4 cornerscrews.

Note: The screws circled in red arelonger than the screw circled inorange.

Step 3

Now remove the camera and boardsfrom the black plastic housing. Usethe plastic opening tool to assist inthe removal.

Be careful of the surrounding gutsunderneath the front. Work yourselfaround the camera on each side.

The side ports might cling to theplastic housing and prevent thecamera from coming out. Delicatelymaneuver the ports out of thehousing.

Step 4

Remove the ribbon strip by pullingon it. This will remove theconnection.

Push down on the three wires andthe clip will disconnect from themotherboard.

During reassembly, remove theblack tape on the ribbon cable, turnthe camera upside down so you cansee the port, and reinsert the cablewith tweezers. It's a lot easier!

Step 5 — Camera Sensor

In this step you'll remove the camerasensor. Make sure you keep it cleanas dust can form on the other side. Ifpossible, put it in an electrostaticbag while you finish your repair.

Remove the four PH000 Phillipsscrews outlined in red.

Gently remove the board. As you liftthe board, the computer chip(outlined in orange) will separatefrom the motherboard.

Step 6

Remove the single screw.

This is the last screw holding themotherboard in. (It will still be held inby the clip holding the ribbon cable)

Step 7

At the top of the ribbon strip, there isa black clip that needs to popped up.

You can use your finger or a pairof needle nose tweezers.

Remove the black tape from theribbon cable before reinstalling.Reapply after!

Step 8

Remove the black tape from theribbon cable. With the needle nosetweezers, gently grab the ribbon andpull down. This will disconnect theribbon from the connector.

Now the motherboard can beremoved. This will allow access tothe screws that hold the camera lensin.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

Remove these three screws. Thenpull the lens out and replace with anew one.
