• With Sopot, Gdańsk and other neighbouring municipalitiesGdynia forms the Tri-City Metropolitan Area of 1mln inhabitants;
• Gdynia received city rights in 1926;
Gdynia population:250,000 inhabitants• Population density: 1 844 / 1 km2
• Percentage of population at working age: 65%• Unemployment rate: 3.1
Employment structure:• 77.1% administration, trade, services, transport• 22.6% industry and building• 0.3% agriculture, forestry, fishing
Total area – 135 km2
• Forests – 46.1%• Agricultural areas – 16.3%• Transportation areas – 9.8%• Living areas – 11.0%• Industrial areas – 3.3%

•Gdynia attractive for business, acc. to FORBES(ranking 2nd in Pl in their category 2014); unemployment rate 3%; bigest and most modern POMERANIAN SCIENTIFIC-TECHNOLOGICAL PARK, social innovations;
SMART ECONOMY
•Gdynia SUMP is well on the way; EU Regiostars’ Award in 2014 for the best public transport; ECO CITY Award for sustainable public transport; growing length of biking routes (105 km); Gdynia –leader of TRISTAR System (ITC controlled traffic management system) ; CIVITAS Public Participation Award (II) for Gdynia in 2014.

Road transport in Gdynia
o Total roads in Gdynia: 391.1 km
o Public transportation routes:• Buses: 193.1 km (77 lines)• Trolleybuses: 40.3 km (12 lines) Annual run is 5 million km. • This is a 25% market share of public transport in Gdynia. • Rapid urban railway (SKM): 11 km
o Number of cars registered in Gdynia: 112,500
o Motorization rate: 450 cars per 1,000 people
o Modal split:
o Public transport is one of the most efficient and green in Poland and in Europe
o Clean PT vehicles operate in the city – mainly CNG buses and the modern, energy efficient fleet of trolleybuses

GDYNIA ON ITS WAY TO BEING A SMART CITY
GDYNIA as one of 5573 cities from all over Europe, 39 Polish and 4 from the Region of Pomerania who signed the Covenant of Mayors who declare to be committed to sustainable energy.
The Polish city of Gdynia on the coast of the Baltic is at the heart of a new trolley-bus revolution in Europe. PUBLIC TRANSPORT IN GDYNIA TROLLEY-BUS REVOLUTION
1. Trolley-busses constitute 25% of the public transport in Gdynia
2. 72 buses in exploitation with CD-LI bateries (range of 5 – 35 km distance without charging)
3. 5 tract stations were modernized and 4 newly built
4. Old buses has been converted into trolley-buses, avarage 5 buses annually since 2011
5. A manual about the conversion of buses into trolley-buses was published.
25% of energy was saved only in 2015,thanks to trolley-bus technology. Annualbus/km distance covered – 5 mln km.

31 buses powered by CNG represent 16% of all Gdynia public transport in 2015. The CO2 emissions were decreased thanks to this transport technology by ca 11oo MG.

TRISTAR TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEM
Tristar in numbers:
- 11 855 detectors of vehicles will be installed in Tri-City;
- 108 cameras will be monitoring the situation on roads;
- 55 photocameras will register those who drive on red light
- 43 photoradars to be installedalongside Tri-City roads

ARMAAG Foundation was called into being by 5 partners in 1993: Gdańsk, Gdynia, Sopot and Tczew cities and Nederpol company. Armaag is non-profit and non-governmental organization.
Main aims :
1. air quality monitoring in the Agglomeration and in Tczew
2. preparing information about air quality for the public and institutions
3. preparing reports , analysis, air quality forecasts and provide the data
4. education (nursery schools,schools, universities)
5. activities for improving air quality

1. Prevailing in Gdańsk : surface, traffic, whereas emissions from ports - 7,3 %
2. Prevailing in Gdynia : traffic, surface, whereas emissions from ports - 9,7 %
