TECHNOLOGY WORKBOOK BACKING TRACK

GYMNOPEDIE - Eric Satie

Here are the opening nineteen bars of the piano score of Gymnopedie. It was originallywritten for piano and has three lines of music - a simple melody and an accompaniment ofchords - spread over the two staves.

In this arrangement, the performer will play the melody (from bar 5) on a flute. The piano willplay the chords split between the two hands, as in the original. If extracted separately (lefthand and right hand) when converted to wavs, it will allow for separate editing (panning, volume etc.). This will then account for two of the required tracks for exam purposes. Extratracks for cello and percussion are added.

Any combination of instruments can be substituted. This arrangement is 39 bars long. Arecording of the track with performer can be heard on Textbook CD 1, track 82.
