2D SHAPES

A shape is the outer form of an object or figure such as circle, rectangle, square, triangle.

There are all kinds of shapes all around us – in the sky, in the sea, on the ground, and in our homes

Knowledge about shapes is important to design and provides structure for creative thinking .

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The children will recognize the shapes circle, square, rectangle, and triangle by sight. The children will practice

drawing circles, squares, rectangles, and triangles.

Children will recognize different shapes in nature like leaves,flowers,fruits etc.

All these will increase children’s interest towards Mathematics.

Children realize that shapes make life brighter.

Today we are going to learn about some 2D shapes...

Two-dimensional Shapes (2D)

• These shapes are flat and can only be drawn on paper.

• They have two dimensions – length and width.

• They are sometimes called plane shapes.
