The bar chart above shows the genre books of fiction that the students prefer to read.

There are 36 out of 50 respondents which are like to read fiction reading material. Most

of the respondents like to read comics which are 12 students from the 36 of the

respondent who like to read fiction reading material. It is followed by genre on thrillers

which have 8 out of 36 of the respondent. There are same number of the respondents that

like to read romance and also science fiction genre which are 7 out of 36 respondents

while only 2 students like to have classics genre as their reading material on fiction.

From the research conducted, we find that students like to have light reading material

such as comics, novels and also science fictions. People often think that a fiction is

something untrue, but this is wrong. As something made, fiction is different from some-

thing discovered, as in physics, or from something that happened, as in the news. But this

does not mean it is false. Fiction is about possible selves in possible worlds.

The reason to have fiction reading materials is because it makes you more creative

thinking. If you are in advertising, blogging, copywriting, graphic design or a similar

industry, youll know that a great idea is invaluable. Reading fiction gets you thinking

creatively. Besides that, by reading fiction material, it will enhance your vocabulary.

Being able to write well also makes you look intelligent and capable. Reading widely will

help you enhance your vocabulary. This is when it helps to read "literary" fiction, rather

than sticking to easy reads. When you come across words you do not know, take a

moment to look them up in a dictionary. In addition by read fiction it can give you an

active relaxation. Unlike sitting in front of the television, reading is an active form of

relaxation. Your mind is engaged with the story, busily translating those little black

marks on the page into letters, then into mental images. This sort of active relaxation is

often, paradoxically, more refreshing than watching television or surfing the net: when

people talk about "losing themselves" in a book, this is what they mean. Sinking into a

novel is also a great way to spend your lunch hour: much more refreshing than simply

surfing the net. Finally, reading fiction can be a gateway to new insights about the world

and about you. Maybe stories of courage against all the odds will inspire you. Reading

literature from other countries, or "classics" from decades or centuries ago, can help you

to see new things in life: the similarities and differences between your day-to-day life and

that described in the novel can encourage you to think about different ways to live.

This bar chart tells us about the genre books of non-fiction that the students prefer to read

among the 40 out of 50 respondents. The students mostly like to read magazines as their

non-fiction reading material which is 27 students. It is followed by biographies genre and

also philosophy genre which have 6 and 5 out of 40 students respectively. However, there

are only 2 students which prefer to read autobiographies genre.

From the result we gather, we find that majority does not like to have non-fiction

materials for their reading. Nonfiction texts, in many students' opinion, lack the

excitement, energy, and adventure of fictional stories. There are several ways to cope

from these problems. Firstly, dont feel that you need to finish. Most books are not worth

finishing. Read until you lose your interest. Then move onto the next book. This is the

secret to reading more. Secondly, start with the author bio. Every book flows out of an

authors heart and mind. You must want to know something about the person that you are

going to be spending the next several hours with. Usually, the bio in the book is enough,

but it also the best way for you Google the author before start reading. Thirdly, is quickly

scanning the whole book. You must notice how long the chapters are and how they are

structured. You might read a few pull quotes or subheads. So, you are trying to set your

expectations for what is ahead. Furthermore, you can share the books message. This is

one way to ensure that the message lives on and is passed on. As a conclusion, teachers

or lectures also must play their part to create student interest in a wide variety of

materials to support vocabulary development and to provide exposure to new ideas.

Increase the non-fiction reading material in colleges. Accessibility to nonfiction reading

materials is often neglected in elementary grades, which can lead to problems as student

progress through the grades. Motivating students to read more non-fiction is an important

first step toward increasing comprehension of nonfiction.

This bar chart tell us on did the students read newspaper for everyday. Most of the

students which is 25 out of 50 students do not regularly read newspaper. It might be the

lack of time to spend and sit to read newspaper for everyday. Besides that, 15

respondents do not read newspaper meanwhile the remaining 10 of the respondent read

    the newspaper everyday.

Nowadays news consuming is free in most cases. The development of technology

information via internet leads the students to read through online. Internet access for

example opens a world of free news sources. In the words of Picard (2001, p.168), the

only real difference between free and paid dailies occurs in the content market where

consumers exchange their time and attention but not money for the content. When onthe one hand an increase of free newspapers and on the other hand a decrease of paid

newspapers is observed, the role of money has to be questioned. This is especially the

case for the younger, future-minded generation.

Besides that, the students read newspaper regularly for a certain reason. It is like access

and time enable to regular reading. Students will tend to read a newspaper when their

surroundings help them. For example, if they can read a newspaper when they have some

wasted time, they will do. If they get in touch with a newspaper regularly, they will be

    going to read one.
