• Usually consists of expository writing
• May contain the bias and point of view of the author and could, then, be persuasive writing

• Broad overview of a topic
• Included in Nonfiction:– Periodicals (magazines)– Journals– Newspapers– Reference Books

• Retellings of people’s lives• Autobiographies are written
by the person they are about• Include:
• Background• Motivation• Conflicts
that chart the path of the person’s life

• May cover deceased or living persons
• May be in collections, organized by theme
