Why CATCH?

• Industry led….

– The Processing, Energy and Manufacturing industries – plus the associated support services –are strategically important to our region

– They recognised the need to address 2 key challenges:-

�The increasing need to develop and prove the competence of their workforce

�The demographic trends resulting in skills shortages

Success and competitiveness depend on the attraction of

new people and the availability of a highly skilled and

competent workforce

What does CATCH do?

Our Mission is:

To make a real contribution to the competitiveness of Processing, Energy and Manufacturing Businesses, and the associated Support Services in the Humber Regions.

We do this by encouraging people to choose careers in the industry and by facilitating the provision of effective, industry-led training and competence assessment within a safe, authentic plant environment.

What Authentic Assessment

Means to Us

Assessing a person’s competence in the

application of skill and knowledge to a

particular task based on observing their

performance in a real-world activity under

real-world conditions (so far as possible).

By Competence, we mean the ability to perform an occupation-related activity to the standards expected in

employment

Competence is normally understood to be a combination of skills,

knowledge and experience

Need for Expansion

• 126 apprentices, workshop fully utilised, temporary modular classrooms in place

• Increasing demand for competence assessment• Growth of renewables in the region inc. wind energy,

biofuels and biomass

– The board are keen to support the renewables agenda

• More workshop space, classrooms, offices, plant area• Access and ‘Compex’ centres

• More car parking spaces

• Extension to Conference Centre focussed on Low Carbon and Green Energy

• Canteen and catering improvements
