Gender Neutral Nursery Colors

If you are having a hard time picking a color for the nursery or you don't want gender colors like pink for girls and blue for boys, you do have other options available to you, you just have to get a little creative and think outside the box. People tend to want gender neutral colors for a variety of reasons. First off, maybe they don't know or don't want to know the babies sex before they have it, but they do want to have the nursery ready for the baby before it comes; this could call for a gender neutral color. Another reason is a more new age reason, but it’s mainly because people don't want to create such a direct identity that blue is only for boys and pink is only for girls. So instead of doing the opposite, they just choose gender neutral colors - none of these will include pink or blue, so check them out and see what you think.

Green

Not only is green a great option for a nursery, but

it can also blend into the rest of the homes paint themes as

well. This specific green, Benjamin Moore Sounds

of Nature 556, is much unexpected in a baby’s nursery, but it has this really neat way of bringing the outdoors in. Using a wood crib or changing table would also work really well with this color. And it’s about as general neutral as

someone can get when they hire an interior painter in Bernardsville to paint the room for them.

Greenish Blue

I said there wouldn't be any pink or blue, but nothing was said about a mixture of colors. This one is a really pretty color of greenish blue and it can be used for a boy or a girl’s room. One of the cool things about this paint color is that it changes with the natural and artificial light so at night it might look more dark blue and during the day it goes back to looking more greenish in tone. It’s an incredibly bright color during the day and yet during the night it turns really cozy and warm.

Grey/Violet

At first glance by the name alone, one would assume this is a girly color, but it’s not. In fact, if you look at the color itself, you would think it was a more gray color than purple, but it changes by light. The color is very gender neutral because its purple but not purple and its gray but not gray, so it’s sort of suited for either or sex. Usually when someone uses purple in a room they have a really hard time matching it up with other colors, but since there is only a hint of purple in this paint, it’s quite easy to match it up to most any color under the sun.

Yellow

Yellow, like purple, is usually considered a girly feminine color until you dumb it down a little bit. This one is by no means bright and aggressive; instead it’s almost creamy in color which makes it perfect for a little boy or a little girl’s room. You can use this Behr - Lemon Soufflé 350B-4 on one wall as an accent, on accents like the trim or you can even use it on certain items in the room like the diaper changing table or the doors and windows. Either way, colors that match really well with Behr - Lemon Soufflé 350B-4 are creamy whites, grays, dark blues, and even hints of dark brown.

Hopefully, these colors have given you a new outlook and a new perspective on colors OTHER than blue and pink. Essentially any colors even remotely like the ones above, can be used in a boy or girls room, you just have to know how to A) pair it correctly, B) find a good hue and C) you have to know what to paint i.e.; the walls, one wall, the ceiling, accents in the room and more. Once you figure all the logistics out and you begin to paint and make the room "theirs" you will really start to enjoy the color you chose for your baby.
