HavenGame Treatment Document
Title
We have decided the game is to be called Haven; the name has been
derived from the main objective of the game, to reach an area known as
Haven, the only safe place in the world. The name may seem ironic
when compared to the environment of the game, an abandoned and
semi-destroyed landscape. There will be many references to the title
throughout the game, with the name featuring on signs, maps, peoplesbelongings, etc.
Format
We are going to make the game will be available on Xbox 360and PC
After the initial release of the game we intended for there to be
downloadable content such as: bonus weapons, special items, extra
missions and characters. It will originally be released in English; it willthen be released to different countries in different languages. There will
be online features of the game including being able to play the game
with other players.

Genre
The game is a mixture of a couple of accepted genres, it is a free
roaming RPG/Action game set in a post-apocalyptic environment in the
near future.
Market Research (Game survey results)
After many hours of handing out surveys we have gather all our survey
results and have a summary of all our results.
From the summary we have concluded that most people who we asked
to answer our surveys either play on a games console every day or
every other day. Only 25 % of the people we served play a games
console less than 3 times a week. Therefore we have a wide range of
people to sell the game to. However we will need to make our game
addictive so that more people will want to spend their time on a console
playing haven.
We then asked the public what type of game they play the most. The top
types of game were First person shooter followed by RPG games. This
is perfect for my team as we are creating first / 3rd person action RPG
which covers the two top commonly played genres. Therefore our game
should attract a lot of attention with the public.
Another question we asked is where or not a person would rather by a
series game or an original game an only 44% of people would by an
7/31/2019 Game Treatment Full
3/14
original game. However this is still a huge section of the market so if the
game becomes a hit people will talk about it and there for more people
will buy the game.
The next question we asked was what platform do you play games on
and Xbox 360 was 67% and it was followed by PC at 48%. So my
teams game will be aimed at Xbox 360 and also PC. If the game
became a big hit we could possibly sell it to further platforms.
We then asked how much people where prepared to spend on a game
and the highest was up to 40 however I would sell our team game for
35. By doing this we will be able to attract more people to buying agame as it will be chapter than other similar games on the market.
Another question we asked was do people play games alone or prefer it
with friends. 55% of people said they prefer playing with friends. In our
game we will have both offline and online modes this will please both
sets of people.
The next question we asked is what aspects of a game do people most
like and the top two where storyline and online multiplayer. Through our
game we will have a action packed story line, Online multiplayer team
7/31/2019 Game Treatment Full
4/14
games and co-operative story. This will then attract more people to
buying haven.
The final game question we asked was how old is the person completing
the questionnaire and 96% of the people who complete the game was
16 19 years of age. As our game ages rating is 16 I believe that our
game will be a hit with this age group.
AudienceThe game Haven is aimed towards mainly males at the age of 16 to 20.
The games certificate will be a 16+
This will be the games primary audience.
The games secondary audience will be aged 20+ aimed at men.
LanguagesDepending on some countries, there will be several different voice overs
depending on the language. This can be things like Russian, Japanese,
France, Germany and Sweden. For other regions we will add subtitles to
the countries language to help save money but also provide to that
country.
TerritoriesThe game will be first be released in the UK and in Europe which
subtitles with be translated and localised, as well as there being different
voices for languages in some countries. It will then be released in the
US, Canada and finally Japan following the region code. The reason I
have picked these countries is because they are the highest market for
the industry.

Theme
Haven is set in an apocalyptic dog eat dog world, you play as a fully
customisable character. In the first moments of the gameplay you wake
up in a ditch next to a road with server injuries however youre incapable
of remembering anything, your character then finds a letter from his
family within his PDA, this leads him to a split second of total confusion
as they need him to reach their safe place called Haven, the only
known safe place in the world, just as the message is read you find
yourself being surrounded by mercenarys, you are brutally nocked to
the ground and you awake as a captive within a makeshift prison
alongside other survivors. The theme of the game revolves around the
deep and dark storyline of an ever growing need for survival, as
resources become scarce you come to find more and more innocent
apocalypse survivors just like yourself dying of starvation and poverty
due to the corruption caused by the mass colonies of mercenaries, you
must choose your path, you have the choice of saving small survivors
villages by taking over the enemys compounds and legionnaires.
The weapons incorporated within the game are very realistic with the
vast majority of weapons coming from current times, also the some of
the most advanced weapons in the world like dragon fire and the
corner shot rifle will also play keys points throughout the game. The
theming of the game generally depends on what direction you want to
take, you could be a thief, lock pick, tradesman, or you can specialise
with features such as banter for trading at more beneficial prices or you
could even specialise with charm and influence whereby your chances
of tricking players through talking to them, this makes our game a more
playable and provides a more diverse theme, this allows us to emerge
within different markets of gaming genres.
Environment

6/14
Heaven is set in an baron apocalyptic world, in the very near future and
the plot portrays the end of civilisation as we know it, however the baron
landscapes are now the home for survivors and mercenaries fighting to
survive and gain control over their most precious resources. The world is
now very dangerous place as there are wild packs of vicious hounds,
and many rival groups of mercenaries. The sole goal is to break out of
depression and reach the safe place where water and food if not
contaminated with toxic pollutions, this place is known as Haven.
And so the world is dangerous and full of thousands of hazards, from
roaming gangs of mercenaries to packs of plague-ridden dogs and
wolves. This world is no safe place to life but everyone knows that
somewhere there is a place of complete safety with an endless supply of
resources and therefore self-sufficiency where you can drink the water
and walk around unarmed, this place is Haven.
Because apocalyptic world is set somewhere in the near future where
civilisation is now a world of lawlessness and chaos, the main wonder is
that people live completely unaware of how the world came to ruin and
so there are many theories throughout the life of your character. The
environment is packed with many of hazards man-made and natural,
roaming bandits, mercenaries and all sorts of traps and contraptions, but
you know that there one place where mankind can be completely safe, a
sanctuary on Earth, known simply as Haven.
Haven is a game set in a futuristic dystopia/wasteland featuring badass
battles and extreme survival. The setting of the landscape is seen as a
dusty and hazardous place where even man traps are a threat upon
travellers.

Game Objective
The main objective of the game is to reach Haven, consulting a letter left
by the main characters parents, but the player is able to take part in
side-quests found in a local pub: doing these jobs earn players a reward
(such as money, or a new ally), or they can simply explore the world.
Another choice that players have is to join two groups warring for control
of the Earth, Asura and Valhalla (picking one side can result in different
allies and enemies) or choose to go it alone, building up a team with
many capabilities, being able to bring the factions down. However, if the
player chooses not to join either side, both groups could try to take the
player out as they may think of them as a threat. If the player joins one
of the factions, it has a major impact on the storyline (including some of
the choices that the player makes in conversations). Players will meet
various others beings looking for Haven as well (mercenaries and
marauders). Some, the player has to defeat while others may join the
player and fight alongside them. The character will be using clues that
are found in rumours to get closer to the goal.
There are alternate outcomes depending on the choices that the player
makes, such as what happens to the protagonist or Haven. E.G. if they
reach Haven with one of the factions: they could indulge in the peace
and tranquillity that Haven has to offer or the faction could betray the
protagonist and conquer all of Haven. If reaching Haven with a team that
was randomly thrown together, it would just show the protagonist and
the group relaxing in Haven with the credits rolling.
Features
A large amount of weapons that have been used throughout time are
usable by the player and any allies. However, certain weapons can only
be used by specific characters; E.G. a Samurai Sword can be used by
anyone in a Warrior class, but Numchuks and Tonfa can only be used
by Martial Artists. The game includes a weapons condition system,
whereas time passes or depending on a battle, an equipped weapon
could become damaged and in need of repair. It can be fixed by
replacing a damaged part or by fixing it using a toolkit, or the player can
simply saw off the damaged part until a replacement can be found;
7/31/2019 Game Treatment Full
8/14
however, sawing off a part could have a negative effect on the weapons
performance.
A unique feature would be the weather. It will include a super-thick daily
fog, which can affect the vision of the character severely. However the
player can use this as an advantage in order to ambush enemies, or
sneak past them undetected. Snow and ice will affect movement speed
on feet or even in vehicles. The player will be able to use vehicles to
traverse the map, plus player can be given the option to steal the
vehicles of NPCs; but be warned as they can try to steal vehicles the
player is using, which will trigger an action scene where the player has
to rapidly press the buttons to fight them off (failure will result in the
player getting thrown out of the vehicle).
Items that the player can use include healing items that can be used
inside and outside of battle: Items used inside battle are able to deal
damage to an opponent(s), it could be non-elemental or elemental
depending on the item used, medication (items that heal HP/MP,
problems like poison and sleep), items that enable the user to steal
something from an enemy and items that boosts the using characters
stats for a short amount of time. Items used outside of battle are able to
restore all characters to full health, increase stats like offence
permanently and lower chances of getting into a fight.
Powers that characters can use could come naturally to certain classes:
E.G. Physical skills are learnt naturally by Warriors or Martial Artists,
while Magic skills have to be taught to them through the use of a scroll.
Skills that characters learn, however, can be a double-edged sword as
they increase abilities, but can lower certain other skills (Example:
Physical skills increase Physical Offensive and Defensive capabilities,
but lowers Mental Offensive and Defensive capabilities and vice-versa).
Interactive objects appear pretty much everywhere: in the wild and in
towns. Certain objects could be Easter eggs, while some could be
pointers or could have deadly consequences (such as calling out a
tough enemy or a powerful boss). One of the interactions that can be
performed is talking with NPCs; however, depending on how you
respond to them can result in a fight, as they could be thugs or
assassins.
Players can modify and repair their weapons depending on what items
they have in their possession. Repairs may include removing sections of
7/31/2019 Game Treatment Full

gun barrels if they become damaged and they do not have a
replacement, do things like this will affect the weapons characteristics.
This concept art demonstrates some of the repairs and modifications
that could be made, mostly using duct tape.
Mechanics
Throughout haven your character will encounter enemies. You will have
to defeat these enemys to survive. Once you have killed the enemy you
will firstly gain a certain amount of experience points depending on the
level and type of enemy that you killed. You will also get the ability to
search the defeated character to loot any items which they will be
carrying with them. As it is the end of the world never leave any items as
you may need them further on in the game. However your character will
only be able to carry a certain number of times before his or her
inventory is full. Another way that your character can earn experience
points is being able to find resources which you can use to your
advantage such as a garage or ammo supply dump this will give you
experience points which will aid you in levelling up. Also the places
which you find could aid you in your further quests and also the faction
you are fighting for will have these resources to use to find haven. The
final way to gain experience points is to complete side quests for people
you pass on your travels. If you complete side quests you can gain
multiple rewards such as loyalty of a faction or town, weapons,
ammunition, armour and coins. Side quests are a good way to level your
character and gain resources to aid you in further quests.
Though out the game there will be one main quest which you are trying
to complete and the aim of this main quests is to get to the last safe
place called Haven. However you can opt to take on further quests
called side quests. You will be given test tasks to do to complete a side
quest this will be in a journal and it will tell you what you need to do.
7/31/2019 Game Treatment Full
10/14
Some quests will be simple and some will be very difficult. However the
harder the quest the better the rewards will be. Once you complete a
certain section of a quest there will be a tick next to it in your journal so
you know what you have done and what you still need to do.
Haven is an RPG free roam game. Throughout the game your character
will have the ability to interact with other charters in the game to trade
and also take part in side quests. To do this your character will press a
button depending on what console you are on. You will then have a set
list of things to say to a charter but be careful what you say because
actions you take can affect your story line for the better and also for the
worse. The way in which your character will move will be the usual
standard controls on game by using the left analogue stick to walk and
the right analogue stick to look in different directions. When you are
faced with an opponent depending on what weapons your charter has
he or she will aim with the left trigger or L2 and fire with the right trigger
or R2. Finally if you have a weapon with does not fire such as a sword
you will have to maele which will be done by tapping the B or Circle
button.
Story, background and general information.
The world is set in a dystopian future apocalypse which humankinds
numbers are dwindling. No one knows the true cause of how the world is
ending, but many had different theories it is because of a mass infection
of a deadly virus, or the feared apocalypse. A popular one is that a
hacker created a deadly virus and sent nukes all around the world to
several different places. No one knows the true case.
In this time, the world is slowly dying. The rate of earthquakes has
increased extensively and cancer runs rampant in some countries. Many
people look out for themselves, and form different groups like bandit
clans and hired killers.
As time has passed, many cities once known to the world have begun
buried in the sand and rust and humanity now must make do with
settlements and considered Safe zones
There is however one place rumoured to be The sanctuary of the
wasteland where people can live safely with no fear of natural disasters,
mercenaries and bandit clans. This place is simply known as: Haven

Most of humanity have already accepted their fate and believe Haven to
be nothing more than a fantasy made by survivors. Those who wish to
remain alive, fight and bicker among other groups as they struggle to
find this haven.
This leads to the forming of two groups, Asura and Valhalla.
Asura wishes to use Haven as a place for its military might because of
its rumoured stockade of weapons and food as Valhalla wish to fight so
they live in Haven for simple peace.
Enter the main character, simply known as Hunter (Name and gender
can be changed) who wakes up at a roadside, with no memory
whatsoever of what happened beforehand. In his backpack he finds a
letter from his parents simply telling Hunter to Find Havenand also
finds a gun stashed in there.
As he finds a nearby settlement raided by bandits, he is kidnapped and
so begins his first lead onto finding not only Haven but maybe his past
as well.
As times goes on, he will eventually have to join up with either Valhalla
or Asura as they try to find Haven.
Characters
Hunter(Main character, name and sex can be changed)
Default age: 21 (Can be changed)
Hunter is the main character who you play as, who awakens at a road
ditch with no memory at all. His main objective is to find Haven, as he is
sure that has a connection to his past as he finds a letter from his
parents to find Haven.
He becomes a skilled fighter and he travels from place to place,
overcoming any odds on the way, to find clues and leads to the
infamous sanctuary of the wasteland.
He can choose to be good or bad, depending on how the player feels.

Some concept art for the main protagonist Hunter
Laura HolwightAge: 30
Laura is a soldier in Asura who suffered from post-traumatic amnesia
when she was kid. The reason for this was because she was
responsible for the burning of her village and family, where she
accidentally unleashed a virus. This virus caused people to suffer
hallucinations of their fears coming to live and killing them. For some
reason Lauras hallucination was being led to safety by following a fox,
before being rescued by an Asura scouting force and taken to one of thecamps. However after seeing fire, she remembered what had happened
of the disaster.
Twenty five years later, she has become self-loathing and a battle
hardened soldier, who blames Valhalla for what had happened, though
truth is she is hiding from herself.
If Hunter joins Valhalla she becomes a feared enemy blocking him every
step of the way by using excessive force and dirty tactics. If Hunter joins
Asura, she will disrupt his plans and make things very difficult for him.

Fred Lowle
Age: 40
Was originally like Hunter and tried to find Haven, but Asura kept getting
in his way and tried to enforce their strict rules to stop him.
One day he was stopped at a checkpoint and wasnt allowed through.
He tried to bribe his way, but instead they allowed him to stay at a
nearby settlement.
In the end the settlement that he stayed in was overrun by bandits.
Killing a few, he found out that it was Asura that hired them to destroy
the town, trying to kill him and the other rebels that Asura believed in.
Lost, confused and unsure of confidence, Fred grew depressed as he
wandered through the wastes alone, losing his cause to find Haven.
Eventually Valhalla found him and trained him to fight, bringing back his
goal to find Haven.
At one point, both he and Hunter will meet and depending on Hunters
allegiance he will prove to be a tough adversary or a good friend.
