SURGE IN FIFTH FUELS RIDERS WIN: After falling behind 3-0 early, the Riders used a five-run fifth to take the lead for good and knock off Springfield 10-7 Saturday night. Eight of the nine starters had a hit, including four multi-hit performances. Starter Edgar Arredondo earned the win, moving past a three-run homer in the second to turn in five solid innings. PLAYING WELL FROM BEHIND: The Riders came from behind again last night and have been impressively able to erase deficits consistently in the early going. Eight of the club’s first 14 wins have come when they trailed at some point, including erasing five deficits of at least three runs. The team’s largest deficit overcome was five runs April 20 against Midland. The Riders are 2-7 when trailing after eight innings this season after going 2-66 in those same situations last year. ROLLING ON THE ROAD: Today’s game is the penultimate contest in an extensive road stretch for the Riders, in which 15 of 18 games will be played away from Frisco. The Riders have handled the stretch well though, going 9-7 so far, including a 7-6 mark on the road. Starting Wednesday, 20 of the club’s next 31 games will be at Dr Pepper Ballpark, where the Riders are 7-3. IMPRESSIVE SERIES FOR LOPES: Infielder Christian Lopes is 5-for-8 through the first two games of this series with two doubles, a home run, three RBIs, two walks and three runs. NETTING A POSITIVE APRIL: The Riders have already ensured a winning record for the month of April, making it their 10th such month in the 17-year history of the franchise. Of the first nine winning Aprils, six have eventually yielded first-half championships and, thus, a trip to the postseason. GETTING THEIR CHANCE IN THE SHOW: Former Riders pitcher Taylor Hearn made his Major League debut Thursday for the Rangers. He is the 154th former Riders pitcher to make the big leagues and the fifth this year. RHP Wei-Chieh Huang debuted for Texas after getting recalled directly from Frisco and bypassing Triple-A Nashville. game #24 sunday, april 28 4:10 p.m. Hammons Field • Springfield, MO RHP Esmerling Vasquez (first app.) vs. RHP Casey Meisner (0-1, 9.37) Video: MiLB.tv • Audio: RidersBaseball.com, TuneIn Radio and MiLB First Pitch App springfield cardinals (8-15) St. Louis Cardinals 1 DATE TIME OPPONENT RIDERS STARTER OPPOSING STARTER Mon. 4/29 11:10 am at Springfield RHP Pedro Payano (2-0, 2.76) LHP Austin Warner (0-2, 5.79) Tue. 4/30 OFF DAY Wed. 5/1 11:05 am vs. Arkansas RHP Jonathan Hernandez (1-2, 7.16) TBA Thu. 5/2 7:05 pm vs. Arkansas RHP Emerson Martinez (1-0, 4.71) TBA upcoming pitching probables 2019................................................... 14-9 2018................................................... 5-18 Best record ..............
