Gallup Employee Engagement Survey Report EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Purpose of Report: To inform the Board of results from the Gallup Employee Engagement Survey administered October 2014. At its September 22, 2014 meeting, the School Board approved a contract with Gallup to conduct an Employee Engagement Survey. Gallup defines employee engagement as “involvement and enthusiasm for work” and says it is the most important factors in helping companies grow. Gallup has collected and studied more than 25 million responses to its twelve question employee engagement assessment from business, industry, education and a host of other work environments. Approximately 89% of the District’s employees completed the online survey. On a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest, the employee’s overall satisfaction rating is 3.91. As compared to the Gallup database of more than 25 million responses, the District employees rated “My coworkers are committed to doing quality work” and “My supervisor or someone at work seems to care about me as a person” in the top percentile range. Employees also gave high marks to these questions: “I know what is expected of me at work” and “I have the opportunity to do what I do best every day.” Employees gave the lowest rankings to receiving “recognition in the last seven days” and “I have a best friend at work.” See attached survey results. While the District continues to capitalize on the strength of its work environment where people say their co-workers are committed to doing quality work and someone genuinely cares about them as a person, we are equally committed to ongoing dialogue with staff, studying best practices from organizations with higher engagement levels in the lowest ranking areas and supporting the day-to-day needs of its team of dedicated professionals. Administrative Recommendation to School Board: Acknowledge the results from the Gallup Employee Engagement Survey administered in October 2014.
