Fuel and Soho Theatre present Inua Ellams’

UntitledUntitled is a magical, lyrical story set in Nigeria and England of identical twin boys separated at infancy. In the quarrel after the marred naming ceremony, the mother grabs the titled child and flees, leaving the unnamed brother to lead an impetuous, chaotic, blasphemous existence until the spirits of the land make their stand.

Inua Ellams’ debut play The 14th Tale won a Fringe First Award at the Edinburgh Festival 2009, toured the UK and ran at the National Theatre in spring 2010.

Fuel at the Roundhouse Melanie Wilson and Fuel present

Autobiographer (in development) By Melanie Wilson

A sound poem for multiple amplified voices that combines the highly crafted poly-vocal textures of a live chorus with a richly detailed soundtrack. Underpinning this sound work will be a tender investigation into the condition of dementia.

“A remarkable poet in word and sound”The Scotsman

Developed as part of Fuel at the Roundhouse and The Jerwood Residencies at Cove Park. Funded by a Wellcome Trust Arts Award.

Melanie Wilson and Fuel present

Iris BrunetteBy Melanie Wilson

A sortie into a curious cityscape of the future past, featuring Iris Brunette: part time traveling refugee, part compassionate voyeur. A warmly mournful and disarmingly engaging piece, inspired by the film ‘La Jeteé’ by Chris Marker.

“There are few more compelling presences than that of Melanie Wilson”The Guardian

Commissioned and developed at BAC. Originally funded by Arts Council England.

Fuel presents

Jackson’s WayBy Will Adamsdale

“Hi, I’m Jackson and ten years ago I got excited...”

A life-coaching legend tells you how he made it happen . . . and stay happened!

Part theatre, part comedy, Jackson’s Way is a modern day parody of American motivational speakers and a satire on the world of self help and corporate jargon. Join Chris John Jackson for perhaps the most surreal and funny hour you are likely to spend in a theatre.

“A veritable wizard, a virtuoso of the transcendently absurd… remarkable for both its sheer inventiveness and its perfect pitch.”The New York Times

Winner of the Perrier Award for Comedy 2004

A BAC Scratch Commission

The Showroom, University of Chichester2 – 3 December, 7.30pm, £10 (£6) theshowroomchichester.co.uk 01243 781312

Simple GirlBy Melanie Wilson Produced by Fuel

A thrilling and touchingly funny encounter with a self-titled simple girl – at once mischievous flaneur, epic sentimentalist and grandiose fibber. Tales of glamorous peril jostle with a live soundtrack, executed by idiosyncratic heroine Melanie Wilson.

“Just occasionally you come across a show on the fringe that’s innovative, startling and ever so slightly indefinable. For me, Simple Girl is it.” The Scotsman **** Melanie Wilson is a BAC supported artist.

The Future Is Unwritten and Fuel present

Don’t Shoot The ClownsBy Paul Hodson inspired by the book by Jo Wilding

Punchy, playful and sometimes very silly, Don’t Shoot the Clowns tells the stories of a troupe of ramshackle clowns in a war torn country. It’s feisty, funny, political theatre about friendship, suffering and how far an individual has to go to make a difference.

“Paul Hodson’s marvellous play… required viewing for anyone who enjoys funny, perceptive and passionately sincere new writing” Manchester Evening News on Meeting Joe Strummer

Funded by Arts Council England. Developed as part of Fuel at the Roundhouse and The Jerwood Residencies at Cove Park.

Uninvited Guests and Fuel

Love Letters Straight From Your HeartLet’s raise our glasses to long lost loves and current lovers, to mums, to dads and to absent friends. Uninvited Guests stage an event that is somewhere between a wedding reception, a wake and a radio dedication show. We speak of our own and other’s loves – deep, passionate, ambivalent and unrequited – and dedicate songs to them.

If you want to join us on this happy occasion, send a dedication to someone you love to [email protected]

“You can’t help but fall in love with it” The Guardian *****A BAC Scratch and an Arnolfini We Live Here commission. Also commissioned by Leeds Met Studio Theatre. Uninvited Guests are Arnolfini Associate Artists and are supported by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation. Originally funded by Arts Council England.
