Steam Turbines Standards

FTM has developed its product range through a standardized approach in order to maximize efficiency and Customers’ satisfaction. The following table describes typical technical features for each category of steam turbines from 10 MW to 850 MW.

Note: grid frequency 50/60Hz for all models except DHI/DL-ML (50Hz)

Type of machines described above are typical arrangement of different standard modules which can be combined in several possible solutions.

For example, the HIC/DL machine is combined by HI module (High pressure and Intermediate pressure turbine) + DL module (Double Flow, Downward Exhaust Low Pressure Turbine). On the other hand, a backpressure turbine with reheat can be obtained by utilizing only an HI module.

Single flow, same flow direction for the entire bladed path. Full arch admission with reaction blades as well as control stage version are available. Very simple mechanical scheme to meet the highest performance and reliability standards of a wide and diversified market, from industrial applications to geothermal needs. High speed and direct coupling available.

30 MW - 150 MW

SRCF

Single flow, HP section flow in opposite direction to IP and LP flow, single cylinder. This turbine standard has been developed to answer to needs of our customers both in the industrial and utility sector. Full arch, fully reaction HP section version is available as the control stage version, to fit any operational configuration. Machine of this configuration may be realized with or without reheat starting from the smallest sizes.

50 MW - 250 MW

DC/ SL - DL

Two cylinders, single LP cylinder. This configuration, made by an high pressure AS type plus a single flow (SL) or double flow low pressure turbine (DL) , covers with state of the art performance a broad range of applications: typical are combined cycles, solar and biomass with a high degree of flexibility in steam conditions provided by different versions of the same basic standard. Sliding pressure operations with full arch admission is typical although control stage versions can be supplied as well. This arrangement allows to choose the optimal speed for each machine section, also setting one turbine module on each side of the generator.

100 MW - 500 MW

HIC/DL - ML

This type of machine is made by a HP/IP combined cylinder (HI type module) plus one (DL) or two double flow (ML) turbines. The same concept is applied with two LP turbines when larger exhaust areas are needed. State of the art technology allows to reach the highest possible efficiency rate when a compact configuration is required. Fossil power plants and combined cycles are the usual field of application, also in association with district heating and other CHP applications.

DHI/DL-ML

Machines to be applied in large, typically coal-fired power plants. Leading edge technology, both in mechanical and aerodynamic design ensures the best efficiency and reliability either in USC or SC configurations. Full arch admission and full reaction blading. This configuration is made by an AS module for the High Pressure Turbine plus one single (MS) or double flow (MD) intermediate pressure module plus one (DL) or more (ML) double flow Low Pressure Elements.

Design features

FTM philosophy is to organize its product line in different standard turbine modules arranged alone or together to tailor our solutions to customer specific needs. Dedicated design solutions are thought to give FTM steam turbines the best fitting to every market range, from industrial to pure power generation. Some of them:

- Back Pressure or Condensing Configuration - Integral steam chest or separated valves assemblies - High back pressure LSB families up to 5m2 annular

exhaust area - LSB up to 10 m2 annular exhaust area (50 Hz). - Fully 3D stator and rotor reaction blading for the

highest level blade path efficiency - Any kind of controlled extraction or

induction/bleeding - Skid supplied solutions (industrial), any direction

exhaust casings and high recovery and efficiency axial ones
