WILKES UNIVERSITYS MULTICULTURAL STUDENT COALITION (MSC) CLUB The Multicultural Student Coalition (MSC) Club was designed as club for everyone and anyone who wants to participate and actively learn about what diversity truly is at Wilkes University. SHOW PROGRAM OVERVIEW Thank you for joining us in our annual Spring Fashion Show. This show is a culmination of both Wilkes University students and local community efforts to expose the public to the vast and modern fashion world. "Fashion is much more collaborative than one might think. You have to have an idea and vision and you have to communicate that vision to a team of people and you have to create an environment that allows those people to give the best that they can give." ~Tom Ford Our show is about having fun, building a positive self- image, learning to communicate effectively with others; self-acceptance, positive thinking, and increasing self- confidence. These are just some of the foundational cornerstones the MSC Fashion Show programs enables one to experience. "It would be very easy for us to do a collection that everybody would like and not criticize. But criticism is a part of life. You have to take it.” ~Donatella Versace Through the support of the Wilkes University faculty, staff, students, and community, our show allows everyone to work together to contribute their collaborative efforts to promote awareness of not only diversity, but also the different diseases, epidemics, and cancers that are affecting today’s society. With the aid of some of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton small business apparel stores and boutiques, they have generously donated a gift contribution to be raffled-off in hopes to help MSC raise money for The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life event. This event gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. "I think the idea of mixing luxury and mass-market fashion is very modern […] It's a new era in fashion – there are no rules. It's all about the individual and personal style, wearing high-end, low-end, classic labels, and up-and-coming designers all together." ~Alexander McQueen THE 2011 WILKES UNIVERSITY MSC ANNUAL SPRING FASHION SHOW President, Shadae Gates Show Coordinator, Matthew Vital MSC Advisor, Georgia Costales PROGRAM LINE-UP 1.
