We’d like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the University of Lincoln, and introduce you to your Students’ Union and the services it provides. With Freshers’ Week fast approaching, we also thought you’d like to know a bit more about what’s going on.

Over the next few pages you’ll find an extensive seven-day guide to Freshers’ Week, as well as what’s on offer in the Student Centre and more.

The Student Centre is the focus of life on Lincoln’s main campus, providing a relaxed environment for work and entertainment.

It is also home to the Students’ Union officers, support staff and Engine Shed management team. Your Students’ Union President and Communications and Media Officer are based on the first floor.

SOAP (Student Opportunities, Activities & Participation) Centre on the ground floor provides a direct and accessible route to a range of services offered by the Students’ Union, University and partner organisations. Here you will find the Sports and Societies, Community Volunteers and help with finding part-time work through the Job Shop.

The Education & Welfare Office is the base for all SU campaigns and support activities, as well as a place to go should you have any academic or welfare concerns. The Education & Academic Affairs Officer and Welfare & Liaison Officer are based here.

The Sports & Societies office houses the elected Sports & Teams Officer and Societies & Activities Officer along with the support staff, and are here to assist you and help you get the most out of your student life.

The Media Centre is located within the first floor office. Here you can get involved with Bullet Magazine, the official publication of the Students’ Union, and join the Media Crew to photograph and film events for our new online television channel, lincolnsu.tv.

The Hub, located on the first floor provides an informal learning space for students. A series of large screen HDTVs enable you to hook up a laptop or digital device - perfect for group work or presentations.

The Engine Shed is Lincoln’s biggest multi-purpose venue and acts as the social hub to all students at the University of Lincoln, providing space for up to 1,500 students on any night. Expect to see a wide selection of popular events, including high profile gigs, comedy nights and more.

Tower Bar is open every day from 11am, and provides a space to unwind during the day, or kick start your social life in the evening. Food and drink is served daily, with live sport regularly shown on large screen TVs. We have pool tables and games to keep you entertained, alongside regular weekly eventsincluding Quiz Night and Socials.

The Box Office can be found on the ground floor of the Student Centre, alongside the Tower Bar. Special extended opening hours are in operation during Freshers’ Week:Sat Sept 19th 2009 12pm - 4pm Sun Sept 20th 2009 10am - 8pmMon Sept 21st 2009 10am - 8pmTue 22nd - Fri 25th Sept10am - 4pm

During term time, the Box Office is open Monday to Friday, 10am through ‘til 4pm.

Outside of Box Office opening hours, you can purchase tickets either on the door of the event, or from the Tower Bar up to the opening of the event.

Don’t forget second and third years are able to buy tickets for the events from Monday Sept 21st. Freshers - make sure you get your tickets before they do!
